Fareed on Jay Leno with the Kardashians

I was a guest on "The Tonight with Jay Leno" Thursday night along with the Kardashian sisters.

Jay Leno is an incredibly charming guy who's really smart and thoughtful about international affairs and American politics. And Kim and Kourtney were lovely - very happy I got their autographs for my kids' babysitter.

We talked about Libya - a topic we'll cover on this Sunday's live GPS.

And Leno asked me about my 'feud' with Glenn Beck. Here's what I said: "It's the easiest thing to call somebody an 'America Basher' when they disagree with you. But I'm not an American by birth like Glenn Beck is. I'm an American by choice."

Check out the clips below.

And here's the original "What in the World" segment where I fact checked Glenn Beck's math:

You Rock! You should do Jay Leno more often....it does wonders for your personality. I especially enjoyed the dialogue between you and Jay Leno on foreign affairs, President Obama, and the malcontent of some Americans to continue to emphasize differences. Excellent "catch" on Glenn Beck's math.

Though it may not be in your nature, there is no need to beat around the bush regarding the elephant in the room: the GOP is losing favorability among the American people. What you said about the population becoming less white and "us" becoming much harder to define will certainly cause problems for the Republcans. However, there are three things that you mentioned that run contrary to what the facts say, namely Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, and popullism. First there is no doubt that Sarah Palin is losing her star power amongst conservatives. Second, the Tea Party has clearly overreached and gone sour with the American public. Lastly, the legislation being pushed through the Republican governors throughout the country combined with the brazen conflicts of interest should prove once and for all that the Republican party is the very antithesis of any sort of populism.
