With bin Laden gone, now’s the time to push Pakistan

In my Washington Post op-ed today, I argue that Washington should:

– Demand a major national commission in Pakistan — headed by a Supreme Court justice, not an army apparatchik — to investigate whether bin Laden and other al-Qaeda leaders have been supported and sustained by elements of the Pakistani state.

- Demand that the provisions of the Lugar-Kerry bill on civilian control of the military be strictly followed or aid will be withheld.

- Develop a plan to go after the major untouched terror networks in Pakistan, such as the Haqqani faction, the Quetta Shura and Lashkar-i-Taiba.

I argue:

In the longer run, as the United States scales back its military presence in Afghanistan, it will need the Pakistani military less and less to supply its troops in theater.

Pakistan’s civilian government, business class and intellectuals have an ever-larger role in this struggle. They should not get distracted by empty anti-American slogans or hypernationalism. This is Pakistan’s moment of truth, its chance to break with its dysfunctions and become a normal, modern country. The opportunity might not come again.

Callous stubbornness, prestige thinking and an ego bigger than life are traits that are incomprehensively attributed to the nature of the ruling elite in Pakistan. The military and the intelligence know their assets and they are poking with the U. S. In order to win this psychological game, the U.S. has to get to the bottom of the minds of its opposing party. However much the U.S. wants to coerce, it shouldn't push its luck. The kind of regime Pakistan has, would crumple one day, which might not be better for us, because of its nuclear capability.

What Pakistan needs is a Communist Revolution to push all the Westerners out and take control of it's own destiny and reconcile with these so-called "militants".

Brain cannot work efficiently and honestly under the fear of security. Pakistan's political leaders are living with constant fear of there survival to rule Pakistan. There are too much fearful about army ruler and ISI. Unless and until USA find a real solution to remove this fear of army and ISI, Pakistan leaders are going to lie and cover up all wrong doings of Army ruleer and ISI. This is known fact from many years and observed first by India and now all countries have realized after the Bin Landen incidence.

For Pakistanis who say US should leave the region, here is the response :

Why should USA leave the region,US would not have come unless Sept 11 happened from the region which included Paki conspirators 🙂 .Before sept 11 , Pakistan was supporting Taliban in Afghanistan 🙂 the only nation on earth ( probably saudis also) .Then after US started bombing Afghanistan , Pakistan had to shamefully airlift 16000 Paki soldiers from Afghanistan who were with the Taliban 🙂

You Pakistanis should leave the region or go to another planet. We wish we can catapult you and your people across to another planet 🙂 as we believe in value of human life , we don't wanna harm you 🙂 , but we just don't want you to be on earth 🙂 .

You can settle in the this neo planet and then fight among yourselves( we know how shias are attacked in your country and there will be no use of your Blasphemy law, we will gladly take your minorities ) as you will have no neighbours..No India or America or Israel 🙂
