Bakshi: Americans most admire Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton

By Amar C. Bakshi, CNN

According to a Gallup poll released Tuesday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama retain their place in the eyes of Americans as the Most Admired Woman and Most Admired Man on Earth living today.

This marks the tenth year in a row that Hillary Clinton has been the Most Admired Woman and the fourth year in a row that Barack Obama has been named the Most Admired Man.

Seventeen percent of poll respondents mentioned Hillary Clinton as the woman they admired most, followed by 7% who named Oprah Winfrey and 5% who named Michelle Obama.  Other leading women included Sarah Palin, Condoleezza Rice, Laura Bush, Margaret Thatcher, Ellen DeGeneres and Michele Bachmann.

Hillary Clinton has been named Most Admired Woman 16 times since 1993 – more times than any other woman since the poll was first conducted in 1948. Eleanor Roosevelt finished first as Most Admired Woman 13 times.

Seventeen percent of poll respondents mentioned Barack Obama as the man they admired most, followed by 3% mentioning George W. Bush and 2% mentioning Bill Clinton.  Other leading men this year included the Reverend Billy Graham, Warren Buffett, Newt Gingrich, Donald Trump, Pope Benedict XVI and Bill Gates.

The Reverend Billy Graham has been named among the top 10 most admired men alive more than any other man – 55 times since 1955.

But I won't wish harm on you or your family TommyD. I'd just pray for you. Maybe you'd begin to start seeing things differently and go about hating a little less.

No! Romney won't improve the economy simply because he continues to embrace and support the very same policies that led to our economic downfall in the first place. A rightwing supporter said to me a couple of months ago that Obama has been in office for four years and he has not created any jobs. First of all, we know that's not true. Secondly, perhaps you people haven't realize that President Obama has not yet been in office for three full years? Let alone four! So doesn't the fourth year count at all? And why does a black man in America always judge and measured by a different standard?

Let's face it, fourteen million American jobs are not going to be created overnight as it will take time. For three years now President Obama has been saying to the opposition if you have a better plan for creating American jobs and improving our economy, step forward with it. Unfortunately, three years later the opposition is yet to respond. So let's be real here. The GOP said the jobs bill proposed by President Obama several months ago wouldn't work. Well, that's fine. However how about introducing one that's goanna work? Furthermore, the reality is that if the GOP really had solutions to job creation and re-growing our economy, perhaps we wouldn't have been in an economic crisis in the first place. Romney for President? Keep dreaming!

I don't think americans are the issue.. its media companies and how polls are done. CNN just picks the most "American" results and posts them to get good publicity. Today on CNN there was a story about a crocidile attacking a lawn mower, really? This is news? Tell me about the soldiers and their conditions over seas, oh but that's too informational. Sorry.

lol – What a load of BS.

A poll wasn't conducted at all. This is a corporate mass media-created "story" to get the sheeple to THINK they should admire these citizen rights-stripping war mongers.

    Seek truth.

I admire people who stand up for fairness and justice, who help others even at the cost to themselves. President Obama and Hilary Clinton, while skilled and smart politicans, are not on the list.

Remember, the 1% want us to be divided over senseless things like politics. BOTH political parties are corrupt and totally owned by Wall Street and the banks.
I do admire these two for LOOKING like they are for the people. Google "ALEC EXPOSED" to see who is running America.

If Obama is elected one more time, the only option will be to do the "reverse" of what the pilgrims did !! Leave this country as he will turn this nation into an immoral country with liberal ideas and also will bankrupt this nation with his already failed economic policies. Any one who has common sense won't vote for this dumb guy again !!

If you rightwing extremists in America really want to continue scrutinizing the Obama administration while still supporting the Republican Party that gave us two deadly and costly wars and the worst economic crisis in America since the Great Depression, then just answer the following question. First of all, you despise the healthcare despise the financial reform despise the economic recovery despise the Obama administration sending our Navy SEALS to kill despise this administration's drone strike that killed despise this administration's military intervension in Libya and so on. So my question to you is how many Americans have died as a result of implementation of the above policies and missions? I'll give you a So why do you people hate President Obama so much? O' I got it, he's African-American. Well, Jim Crow is alive and well in America.

Why anyone would admire any U.S. paid off politican is beyound me. Politicans or preachers have done nothing for the advancement and betterment of the human race. That has only been done by science and scientists. I'm sure this is just more cooked up propaganda, brought to you by Pravda here.

It would be real progress if Fox News for once reported the truth about anything, like this piece of news of something they hate to admit. Perhaps some of its listeners can forward them this article although it will probably give them intense heartburn. They had better start getting used to another 4 years of Obama. By the way, it is amazing Obama is surviving the tremendous obstruction that the Republicans subjected him to. They hated him so much that they were willing to let the country crash and fail as long as they could defeat Obama. Some patriotism!
