The unemployement rate in the USA is an unknown but a good estimate is between 16-20 % . The Labor department is spitting out false information to help Obama being re-elected.
The actual unemployment rate is skewed because it does not breakdown the groups correctly. For Americans with at least a Bachelors Degree, the rate was around 4.5%. Americans with High School education or less was around 19%. I was passed these numbers by an executive recruiter. American outsourcing of our manufacturing and other labor positions has left our hard working American blue collar workforce without work. Depending on sectors, white collar is still in reasonable shape.

@Deng and Slammer.... have you read what either of your wrote? Where in Gods sweet name did you get your figures? The ONLY conspiracies I'm starting to believe to be true in America are the ones to undermine Education and bring ignorance to prominence... and, well, based on both your "opinions", it's working really well.
I'm well educated use to make 6 figures and have been out of work 2 years. Obamas numbers don't reflect the millions who can't get unemployment or even part time work. It's Obama at his best that things are improving drastically.What a joke.

The discussion on Iran was interesting with both Iranian-born gentlemen, who were very informed and Ms. Hillary Leverett being at her best, but Mr. Bret Stephens still wanted to see another war, putting USA a few more trillion dollars in debt, something which I really cannot understand. I wonder if Bret could be replaced by a more moderate republican. Bret reminds me of the war-mongers such as Wolfowitz, Richard Pearl, Billy crystal and more. I hope I am wrong.
Wow. First off the number that the gov. Uses is the number of people claiming unemployment thats it. It does not look at underemployed or those who are looking for a job but have been kicked on there butt by the gov. The real number flotes between 13 and 21 percent. If you only belive what the gov. Puts out wow your one sad unamerican. I think its very pathetic that you justblindly follow what the gov. Says. You are the reason we are in the situation we are in. Do your own research and for gods sake dont just blindly follow mainstream news or your gov.

18% when you factor in those who have stopped looking for work. It's 30% for youth in some cities.
