Three years ago when India's Tata Motors launched its Nano car line, observer said it was impossible to make cars smaller or cheaper. Well, they've been proven wrong. This week another Indian manufacturer, Bajaj, revealed the teensy RE60. It has been crowned the new champion in the race to the microscopic.
We thought we'd compare the RE60 and America's biggest passenger automobile - the fully loaded Escalade.
- The Indian entry weighs 881 pounds. The American: 7,100 pounds.
- The RE60 gets 82 miles to the gallon. The Escalade, 18 miles to the gallon.
- When it comes to price, the Cadillac with all the bells and whistles will run you well over $80,000. That is about 40 times what the Indian car is expected to cost.
Finally, while the Cadillac seats eight comfortably, the RE60, supposedly, seats four passengers, which means four Indians (which probably translates into two Americans).

4 East Indians = 2 Americans
4 Thousand Rupees = 2 American Dollars
4 Hundred Indian Women = 2 American....
4 Meals per Day to 1 Person in India is equal to 2 meals per Day to 1 person in America.
4 East Indians = 2 Americans
Thats true, Americans are way obese.
4 Thousand Rupees = 2 American Dollars
Not true, 1 Dollar = 53 Rs, We really do not want 5K Rs = $2 equation as everything will be outsourced.
4 Hundred Indian Women = 2 American....
True, 2 american women sleep with the same or much more number of male/female partners than the 400 Indian women. Frankly, don't know which is good or bad.
4 Meals per Day to 1 Person in India is equal to 2 meals per Day to 1 person in America.
True, watch 'Super Size Me'
Please don't compare Indians to Americans..... If you want to boast, our 1 american women (Who sleep around so much) can accomplish what 1000 indian women can do. America is the best nation in the world! That's why so much of your people try to get into our country everyday. How many Americans' are trying to live in India??? Yea, I might sound pretty racist but I'm not, I respect all people. I WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO TALK ABOUT MY COUNTRY THOUGH without adding my own peice of mind.
India can have our low budget jobs. You'll still never be the super power that we are.
VietWarBaby,
Take it easy man. We are not having Vietnam war over here. Look at the history and then say what you said. False ego won't help. Be humble and live in a moment (no doubt, current moment is of America)
My Indian wife is far better in every category than any American woman I've ever been around. Old fashioned family values, actually wants to have kids yet balances a good paying job, interesting conversation, you name it. F your idiotic racism fool.
American cars suck but to say that our cars are large because the US is fat is retarded. How about Mercedes, Lexus, or Rolls Royce? Those vehicles are every bit as big. India is a developing country, give them about fifty years and see how big they make cars then. If you were wealthy and skinny would you live in a house that was 2,000 sq ft or 200??? It is a symbol of status not accommodation for fat.
Very nice but Peel P50 which was in production years ago was much smaller. No doubt smallest in production today
Generalizations are useless. Keep thy thoughts to thyself.
I guess that's why you see an Indian on every street corner in the U.S. hawking gasoline.
@usa1corey
Read and weep:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/8845213/Plump-my-ride-luxury-car-makers-create-bigger-cars-for-fat-drivers.html
The brain of 1 Indian = The brain of 10 Americans
That must be why so many indians sleep in the street on cardboard, eh?
Grow up.
LOL!
reply to Wally: I assume places like Oakland and the Bronx in New York don't belong to the USA then?
Untrue ... we merely see some of the best and brightest Indians in America. They have dumb people just like we do. In fact, they have many more of them since they have about 4 times the US population.
Such generalizations are useless. I say this as an Indian. Keep your thoughts to yourself.
I don't know of any American women who have been beaten, burned and whipped incessantly by their in-laws.
You obviously haven't dealt with a help desk lately.
Yes...we see very smart people from all over the world here in the US. Now why do they come here?
It's good India has the Jaguar and Land Rover and other cars and other ventures. A healthy India is good for everybody and I hope the standard of living in India will increase along with trade w/US.
The stench of 1 Indian + Curry Powder = 100 American Bums.
Size of your (1) bum = 100 Indian Bums
Generalizations are silly and useless. Stereotypes are useless.
200 stories like this = enough facts for one "news" story.
500 comments like this = going through every stupid stereotype around.
Cadillac will run 140 per hour and indian car will work only for 10 days before catch fire.
1 American = 4 Indian outsourced idots
I hold this to be, more or less, correct.
1 bloca = 1 phag
I know that it takes 2 developers in Pune to do the work of one home office employee.
And yet it costs less
yeah but who's laughing at who? the indians have ALL our jobs and we have 8.5% unemployment of OUR jobs going to india and china. wake up america
400 indian women= 2 American Women: That's not fair, Indian Women are beautiful... And probably less materialistic too...
By weight. American women are often 50+ lbs overweight.
Dude,
You caused a riot here.
None of the article viewers are discussing about the cars in this thread.
I was born in India and currently citizen in USA. So I am offended by both sides of people who make angry comments.
I don't see a big deal about rich and poor. Is being poor a bad thing? I feel there are many benefits being poor. People don't know what they want and spend money just because they have it. Being rich and living poor is probably the best thing. India does not need cars at all. If India is making cheap cars for America then this news is good for both countries. Americans can by cheaper cars and Indian companies can pay better salary for middle class Indians (not just the IT professionals).
Americans should realize how much of trash they are generating. Indians need to think about leading a healthy, educated, peaceful life style. All developing countries seem to pick the bad things from western world and trying to make it part of their lifestyle to keep up. They need to start thinking about what is their need and what is good for them.
Raam out of curiosity, why did you end up in USA?
400 East-Indian Women = only 02 American...
Is it back in the COLONIAL ERA or ...?
2 American women will eat as much food as 400 Indian women.
Lets say you need to move everybody in the USA across town and you will use fully loaded Escalades, it would take 41,250,000 Escalades and cost $3,300,000,000,000 to buy them. Now put all of America in RE60's to get them across town, it would take about 82,500,000 RE60's and cost $165,000,000,000. So India could move everyone across town cheaper but everybody would be ragged out from the ride and probably stinky. While the Americans in Escalades would be comfortable, smug and probably stinking drunk by the time they got to their destination.
Generalizations are silly. I like this car. It goes with Indian's belief in "simple living".
Like they have a choice...
1 million times your brain power = 1 Indian's brain power!
The poverty rate of the us is 15% the pverty rate of india is 25% so the difference isnt a whole lot
With billions living in poverty and disease and social inequalituies and cultural malaise, this is hardly where the priorities of the private and public sector should be. The western nations have India total brainwashed into focusing on priorities that are contrary to the needs of the Indian people. This is a recolonization of India. "American East India Company". Ring a bell?
Well said. Thank you.
Waaaaaaah!!!
Then go fix it, quit whining about it in an article on cars, not cultural issues.
You are an idiot living and stuck in the mindset of 1950s. India is a progressive country and you should admire with out the help of any country and oppression of British rule for 300 years(your cousins) which prevented them from being a developed country, India has been able to achieve a pretty impressive growth of 8% GDP(I hope you know what this stands for). So instead of making stupid comments about the poverty which is becoming rampant in the US, why don't you show some respect for countries llike India and other developing countries. So why don't you americans forget your mightiness because sun has set just like it did in Britain and wake up.
India is progressive solely from the point of Industry taking over. Its people live in squalor almost to the man. Its infrastructure is incredibly rudimentary, social services are next to nil, and emergency services are also nil. There IS a reason that indians are still flocking to the US in droves. The 'progressive' caste based society in India is not all it's cracked up to be.
krm is likely not an American. Your stereotyping is just as ignorant as krm's posting was.
TG – who knows where India would be today without the British but I seriously doubt they would be as advanced as they are now. You cannot seriously hold the position that the British rule "prevented them from being a developed country". Frankly that is just plain ignorant. Even today India uses education standards that were established by the British. Even today business is conducted in English. India has more in common with Britain than the USA does and more to be grateful for. The population of the USA is far more diverse than the British. Immigrants have come to the USA from all of Europe not to mention the rest of the world. This diversity, and celebrating that diversity, is part of what makes the USA great. India might want to learn something from the USA on this front. Yes, you have diversity, but by golly is it holding you back.
Yeah sure. I drive in Chicago everyday and it is no different. So if it is so advanced, why don't you shut up and criticize India and do something about the traffice congestion in New York, Chcago or LA. You are an absolute ignorant person just like many average americans who have no idea that other countries are progressing much faster than they are. So you may want to expand your brain a little bit and read something positivie about other countries.
Exactly, Rome is burning. The chickens are coming to roost for the established western nations. Too much dirty dealings throughout history. It's all catching up now. Neo-colonialism is dying. Countries are breaking away from commonwealth status to succeed or fail on their own terms. India and Brazil are too examples of impoverished nations poised to thrive in the time to come.
Although, the disparity of rich and poor in India/Brazil is staggering. I can walk up a street in India and see a few mansions while others lay around in squalor. Heartbreaking that the Ganges, a major source of water can not be used by many due to pollution. Maybe their bright minds can help figure that situation out. Gap between rich and poor is also crazy in the States but poor over here have an astronomically higher likelihood of being able to change their standard of living. It isn't easy but what is possible here isn't in many parts of the world, if we dont wake up and recongnize it now–the ship will have sailed on us.
I'm sure Indians have no concern about "reality TV" and whats going on in the music and entertainment world. If many Americans plaid attention to equations like the do to the Kardashians or 'US Magazine' we'd be in better shape right now, smh.
two examples* sorry.
Going to India pushed my political views far to the left. That level of wealth-concentration (and mass poverty that comes with it) shouldn't be allowed to happen.
So we should not allow wealth. Thus we should steal/take from the rich and GIVE to the poor? Sounds like a BHo solution, which did not work in the USSR. The answer is education, not taking from the wealthy.
@JJ Golden – no, the answer is a little more complex. Take back from the "rich" what was unjustly stolen from the poor. Punish them severely for their crimes. Then ensure that it doesn't happen again.
I guess the bigger question is whether or not conditions are getting worse for the average Indian, whether they're getting worse for the people at the bottom, or whether industrial priorities are leaving a status quo in some areas, while propping up portions of the population. If the vector is upwards, but unequal, it's better than no progress at all. If it's downward for some (or many) in proportion or excess of the benefit to others, then I see the issue. Overall, I'd argue that India's (still) ballooning population will make long term social progress and equality problematic if not impossible.
joey: "no, the answer is a little more complex. Take back from the "rich" what was unjustly stolen from the poor. Punish them severely for their crimes. Then ensure that it doesn't happen again."
And what did they steal from the poor if they poor had nothing to begin with? Or are you saying that the rich stole from the not-as-rich until they were beaten into poverty?
Lol. Okay.
The American East India Company.... That has a nice ring to it.... but anyway who's more to blame, the brain-washer or those who allow themselves to be brainwashed? And i understand the view that "That level of wealth-concentration (and mass poverty that comes with it) shouldn't be allowed to happen." I get that, but how do you change it. Communism doesn't work, Socialism pushes countries to the brink of financial disaster, and Capitalism leads to these huge gaps.
Socialism doesn't necessarily push countries to the brink of financial disaster. Most of Western Europe (Scandinavia, Germany, Britain, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria) are doing fine with a socialist political system. The countries that let socialism run amok are the ones with problems, i.e. Greece, Italy, Portugal and Ireland. The same holds true for capitalism. Moderation is the key to a successful country.
@krm1007 This article is about beautiful, luxurious American cars vs. low cost, high mileage Indian cars. Both countries are doing something useful on two different market segments. You need to worry about your own Pakistan where your people are involved in beheadings, explosions and assassinations. Please leave constructive discussions to adults.
Reasonable1: "You need to worry about your own Pakistan where your people are involved in beheadings, explosions and assassinations. Please leave constructive discussions to adults." You might what to check a map.
This article is about a car built in India – not Pakistan. That's kind of like an article about a car built in Canada and you telling the commenter he should mind his own business and worry about the problems in "his" country, the US. Perhaps you should heed your own advice.
Economic development ithat comes with Technology development is necessary. However, one needs to ensure that the wealth that is derived from the economic development flows to the common man. I see that happening a lot.... Compared to 20 or 30 years, even the laborers and maids who used to get paid very little make reasonable wages today. But wealth distribution is still not very balanced.
You guys have no right. 80% of you think that asia is only china. You guys are frod in a well who doesn't know whats going on outside. Prosperrity? you are borrowing more than you are earning. Even any idiot wont do that. All this so called prosperity is from money looted from other world. India has more graduates that US has total number of kids. There are 32000 publication in six hundred different languages. if you take seven birth then also you wont be able to understand complex indian society. We have festivals those are full of joy. Think about yours, what do you do except shopping and drinking? America is good for professional life only. I am glad indian economy is booming and we dont need to come here to make our life.. FYI. I am in us. There are many good thing about leaving here and its great counrty but people like you need to change stereo type about other countries. Else your overconfidence will take you down one day. Follow CNN and you will see reality..
Thanks for the perspecive from India. It's funny how the people trying to 'help' the people of India are the most insulting. In trying to 'help', they do so without any historical perspective other than to say 'gosh, that looks awful to me'.
Are things perfect in India? Of course not. Do they have a lot of poor and starving? Yes. How is this compared to 20 years ago? India made the decision 20+ years ago to invest in education. Since then, the 'middle class' has grown and grown. The could not jump in and educate everyone at once, but the education programs are expanding every year. I'm sure it will continue to expand in the future.
India's economy is growing, while the U.S. is shrinking (at least as % of world economy). Any Americans who dare to look at India and other growing nations and tell them they aren't doing good enough while we continue to decline are entirely misguided. China is soon to pass us as the largest economy in the world. India will surpass the U.S. sometime in the future.
The arrogance of American Liberals astounds me.
p.s. I'm an American in the technology field. I have made dozens of trips to India and seen both good and bad. I have seen similar good and bad in Chicago, Detroit, etc. Perhaps Americans should try to fix their own problems before trying to fix everyone elses.
I am an Indian.... I say, tone it down. keep your thoughts to yourself.
So the developed world gets their cars, but the developing world does not, even if they're 3-4 times as fuel efficient?
yeah... let's tell the new 'middle class' in India that they can't have a car while we in the U.S. have many. That seems fair (not). Did it ever cross your mind that the demand for cars by the Indian people is because of the new 'middle class'. I doubt very much that the super-rich in India want cars like this... They are driving (or being driven in) large luxury models.
Is it your point that no Indian should get a car of any kind before each and every Indian can afford one?
In a city like Mumbai or Calcutta where traffic congestions dominate the street scenes, it makes sense to have a small car that can swerve around and take you to your destination in time. I wouldn't want to travel in such a tiny car on the highways.
Where can I get one. I think I can fit 10 clowns in there. Or 20 Mexicans. Hahahahahahahahahaha
and then came people who have no idea what they are talking about or referring to !
Ok ok........30 Mexicans! Hahahahahahahaha.
Mr. Singh;
They must change that Car model (Roof Top) to fit your Turbine. If not, make a hole like Sunroof, head up and look the Streets through the roof hole to see clearly, the upcoming traffic and to know were you are heading.
(•) (•)(•)(•)(•)(•)(•)(•)(•)(•)(•)(•) (•)
Advertising: the new model with extra roof top, for turbine (turbal) Men. (Extra charges will applied). GPS on your head.
Come On, Sikhs are the best Indians.
I'll take two, just to get to work in back in daily traffic and the other to put on one of mt speakers in the living room !!! LOL
What is the safety rating of That car versus the Cadillac? Maybe I am missing something here, but even at 80 mpg, if you are in an accident, what are the chances you will walk away from it? Also, is that a standard American Mile, or an English 'mile'? It is Unleaded Gas, or regular leaded gas? What level of pollution is created by this car? 4 Indian nationals = 2 Americans? Really? hmm, maybe 3=2, but 4? And is that 4 passengers similar to the Indian Rail lines passengers? if that is true the Escallade rides atleast 35.
In case of an accident, human's body has to be taken out of Escalade and RE60 has to be taken out of the human body...hahaha
People are driving at slower speeds over there. Also, you have to avoid cows, donkeys, etc.
Introducing another type of car to the already over congested roads of India is utter stupidity. Comparing Indian cars with American cars does not make any sense. I think Mr. GPS must compare American roads with Indian roads and then talk about cars. India needs public transport not cars.
Well although the milage is impressive these cars have certain safety concerns. For one, you cannot drive these cars in US, the max speed of these cars are no more than 40 mile/hr.These cars are highly unstable at speds which we think are normal. The body of the car will not pass our US safety standards by miles. We can compare with Cadillac but we are comparing apples to oranges, even if we were to compare it with Ford Focus its still no comparision. These cars may be ok for city drive, but wont meet the safety standards. You might be beter off having a tin roof over your head and pedal thru the city.
Ok the numbers sound good but is it like the Flintstones car and you have to use foot power to run 15 miles an hour? I know a moped gets a hundred miles to the gallon in cases, but if it takes me four hours to get where I'm going when an American car can get me there in thirty minutes, I don't see an advantage except for driving on the sidewalk and being able to park four of them in one parking spot. I would also like for someone to mention what comforts the car leaves out. You know, like A/C, and heat, and being able to check my watch without making the person sitting beside me pick his nose in the process. Why not just buy a horse......oh yeah, emmissions
i swear i read these stories for the comments. and yours is priceless!
One fat American's lunch would fit.
Hey rad666, had your mom not eaten my american lunch she would have fit better in mine last nite..
"...which means four Indians (which probably translates into two Americans)."
Racist!
When did it become bad to be an American?
Indian people have the tiniest d**k too ! I m Indian, but I'm an exception.. 6'5" .. llook more like Hulk Hogan.. but most Indians r small people. Smart thou, and peaceful ,unlike Muslims and xtians !
Offensive anti-Indian stereotypes aside, the Nano and RE60 are still huge compared to the Peel P50.
Love the 2 American women = 400 Indian women line, simply going by how much American women sleep around.... and I am sure a lot of Indian men would love seeing a lot of American girl action in India... as they say, China and India will have a lot of demand picking up for American(White) women... as it is there are a lot of Russian girls sleeping around in India.. and working the bars and working as extras in Indian movies... Indian men are getting tired of their brown women, more white women needed from America...
You are silly. Even Indians living in the West prefer to marry within the Indian community.
# of passengers killed in a fender bender
Cadillac – 0
RE60 – 2 if Americans 4 if Indians
# of passengers killed in a major accident
Cadillac – 0
RE60 – I'll know better once I find the car. Who put that RE60 sticker on the road?
Indians are visionaries. They have big almond eyes.
Sallay gandoo hindooos. Aik to yeh zakarai maather chaud ghatya article likh ta hai aur phir lun pey churnay walay hindoo apney cars mai charas bhartey hain. Chup sallay gandoos!!
When the thing breaks down or fails, good luck locating the manufacturer.
What a silly article by Zacharia! I bet he didnt have anything better to report this week so he writes up this crappy article! So much for being a Harvard Grad!
No one has mentioned another big advantages these tiny vehicles offer to their owners: when in an accident, the vehicle collapses into a nice coffin. Imagine the savings, they can just lower you right into the ground afterwards ...
Pakistan is going to nuke India in a couple years anyway. That car will do them alot of good then.
I agree with Infinity. Ha.Ha.
So made a recent trip to Mumbai.. walked into a BMW showroom and asked for the price of a 5series sedan.. – Any guess? 110K + taxes.. and look at the number of cars on the road, makes me wonder how poor is the middle class back home!
110K in USD not INR. LOL
When is it coming to U.S. to help reduce gas consumption and save our environment???
have no death wish to ride in any Indian made car
too bad a much smaller and cheaper was already made in the 60s. Peel P50 is much smaller than that car and got 100 miles to the gallon. It currently holds the record for smallest production vehicle
The reporter mentioning that the RE60 sitting 4 Indians=2 American's was out of line, as for having a smaller car...never will I own anything smaller than a 4 door sedan. Seeing how some idiots drive here, no thanks!
How safe is that car compared to the 80K US car? I have no clue but just from the photos that are online today it looks like an enclosed golf cart & about as safe...
When Americans are migrating as a general movement (not specific job transfer) then i will be impressed. Until that point, forget about it. Brazil – commodity boom(tick tock) India and China (cheap labour, somewhat educated) Russia – lots of Oil. A country can only gain true stable wealth (with its ups and downs and yes, depressions, recessions) when it produces original Intellectual Capital.
NOT TRUE - 4 Thousand Rupees = 2 American Dollars
TRUE - 100 Rupees = 2 American Dollars
Sallay gandoo hindooss....jai mata ki boond mai nai car.
I know that the brain of one american is worth 8 Indians brains. Therefore Zakaria is right. He is cheaper than Wolf, Soledad and Christiane.
Smallest car does not have to mean the safest car. The innovation here has both positve and negative things. Small cars would be necessary to fit in congested roads with bare minimum space in between the cars in all directions. But the negative thing is it contributes to already raising road accidents and accident related deaths.
Suffice it to say there are positive and negative attributes to both the United States and India. I think Mr. Zakaria's comparison of India's new micro car to the Cadillac Escalade was a bit silly or tongue in check and not meant as a comparison of the two cultures. There are people who drive Range Rovers and Rolls Royces in India just as there are people who drive Cadillac Escalades and Bentleys in the United States. Which all means what exactly? Apparently there are people in both countries that can afford to drive bigger and nicer cars than the average person.
I wonder how many Indians will die in these death traps? How many will lose their paychecks when it fails to run? I'm not sure I would be 'proud' about the worlds cheapest made car.
@mmh – The ones who drive toyotas and hondas in India need to be compared to the ones who drive Cadis and BMWs in USA. No Kidding – Check our the price of the camrys and accords in India – you could easily by a BMW or Merc here!!!!
I think that Americans should express more appreciation for those Indian scientists, doctors and computer specialists willing to take their talents to this country. There are fewer young Americans willing to tackle the difficult classes and to spend the necessary time to excel along these career paths. Just the time needed to satisfy an average American college freshman's computer game habit, would preclude academic success in any of these curriculums. Kind of nerdy sometimes, but no different than their American counterpart. Sanjay Gupta and Bill Gates may not have tattoos, but they still have societal value.
This is not a technological wonder. It is light, tiny, dangerous, and has a top speed of 40 mph. This is not even a car by US standards. I certainly appreciate Indian engineers... but not for this abomination.
This is hardly the world's tiniest car.
The Peel, manufactured on the Isle of Man, is the tiniest.
Fareed – This "vehicle" (sorry, it's not a car) has a top speed of 43 miles per hour. Given that its speed and undoubtedly abysmal safety means it would never be street legal in the US, it is hardly fair to call this a car. When I was growing up we used to hit 30 mph with homemade go-carts using lawn mower engines. And we could do that for under $100. Color me unimpressed.
JiminPA – Agreed. 7th grade shop class. Picked parts out a used parts box and built a "car" on a big baby carriage set of wheels and fooled around until it worked. Drove me and my friends around for a couple of years. What a laugh. Got a A+. This just a fancy version of the same thing. MAJOR FAIL as far as a "NEW automobile" goes.
Jim, I also am unimpressed. It is wrong to compare American cars to those from India. The Tata and whatever else India has to offer will never even be considered on US highways. When an Indian car can pass all of the US safety standards and still get 40-whatever gas mileage, than I may be interested. My message to those at CNN who think Indian cars are better, go back there and don't let the door hit you where...
Notice how the picture of this so called small car is shown from the front? I think the smart car is smaller it is a 2 seater. But they compared it with the most expensive car and the most plush car around! Why would'nt they compare it to the smallest car around?
RE60 Nano wieghts 881 lbs. We have Americans who weight 881 lbs. How does that affect the driveability of the NANO?
What a great comment. I am laughing. Thanks so much.
I don't know why Indians are making cars in the first place. They can't drive for sh1t!!
It probably doesn't come with blinkers or mirrors since all Indians I see driving do not use them.
Actually, have you seen some of the Indian traffic videos on YT? I live in North America (Canada to be specific) and could NOTdrive in India...you gotta have skill and nerves of steal...seriously.
I repeat...there is more information you need to know.
The Tata family includes Tata, Tata Daewoo, Jaguar and Land Rover. Things to think about.
Indians manufacture other types of vehicles too.
Since humor is obviously dead, 1 American is NOT equal to 2 Indians. The average weight of an American is 182lbs, and the average weight of an Indian is 162lbs. End of debate.
+ or – Turbun?
Hey 100% ETH
The turban is pretty light. It is made of very light fabric. Breathable and comfortable. I only wore it for a short duration in my life, but have a pretty tight grip on the topic.
Auto Industry, Textile Industry...gaining huge market share in all areas, especially in the UK.
BTW...I'm gonna make an auto related comment now...
The Tata family includes Tata, Tata Daewoo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and the Jaguar subsidiary Daimler (not to be confused with Daimler-Chrysler). Things to think about.
100% ETH.
You are cool dude. You seem to have a fixation on the turban...perhaps you can were one some day LOL.
Anyway...keep up the funny comments.
That was pretty racist.
the bottom line is that if you're so desperate for a little commuter why not get a motorcycle?? Even if it means you may have to grow a pair and adjust to the weather. However, if that doesn't change you're life then maybe saving money in the meanwhile will.
I understand frustration some of the guys showing here on China and India...but pls do not underestimate any country..... Before world war 2 British also thought that they cannot be beaten by anybody in the world..and see where there economy is now....Same goes for America. Whatever goes up has to come down..and ignorant comments like this will accelerate that process....So rather then criticizing any other country..I think we should think how we can keep on growing our economy compete with the new challenge we are facing.....At least China and America are not exporting Terrorism like Pakistan and middle east.
I like this small car. It goes with Indian's belief in simple living.
Indian, and simple living. Are you kidding me? Only the very poor. NOT the Brahamans.
Let's face it. Here in USA every one ships to save a Dollar and will go miles looking for deals. Go to India and check out! People are living more prosperous and less stressful lives. No matter what a couch potato American says, understand this: a. None of you guys are from here, originally. So don't berate Indians who are here now. b. Indian students are at the very top in aspects of education (hard to find white kids doing PHD nowadays!) c. American government is now promoting smaller, greener cars to save energy (most of the people ranting about Escalades is nonsense) and d. How many of you (India offending) guys actually own an Escalade? LOL! When I look at who drives Lexuses, MZs, Escalades, Priuses, I see mostly Indians driving them here in USA. Shame on you, racists!
Fareed Zakaria! Sounds like an Indian name. Best Wishes!
I believe the reporting of this story is wrong. It is vying for the world's cheapest car, not smallest.
Ugly Car!!!!!!
I am an Indian and I approve this Message lols
BY THE WAY*** OBAMA 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suck it up Romeny!!!
I just came back from india and no doubt it has changed tremendously. There are zillions of entrepreneurs trying to make money catching the growth curve. I regularly saw jaguars, bentleys and rolls royce, harley showroom etc.
But if you understand the indian society which is kind of the car , two wheeler, bullock cart society ( villages ) this car is only for upgrading the two wheelers into the car segment. From what I heard in india nano was a failure and I have barely seen one on roads. Indians prefer other reliable makers and I do not see many clamouring to these low end models which probably have low safety standards.
Having said that Indians love america and what it represents and I consider America as the beacon for the free world in terms of innovation and inspiration to Indians like me....
Indians seem to prefer hyundai, honda, toyota, ford etc....
Will aspirational Indians want to be seen in the cheapest nastiest car on the road?
This comments are funnier than the host's last sentence. He hit a nerve. A lot of insecure people posting.
Guys. PLEASE RELAX. He obviously meant it as a joke. Both countries have so much to be proud of.
Poverty exists in both countries. Success exists in both countries too.
India is only 63 years old as an independent nation – does anyone realize this???? It takes time to be successful. America has been independent since 1776!!! Ironically both countries became independent from BRITISH RULE.
THIS MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
I've visited the USA and India on many occasions. California seems to be all health and nutrition, while other states are not. This does effect people's health and weight.
India also has skinny and obese people. It is more modern than most people think...primarily in Mumbai and other major centers. Only been independent as a country for 63 years...give it more time.
BTW...relax you little insecure people. USA is awesome. India is awesome too.
I think CNN should apologize for this story and withdraw it. Zakaria ended the story with a racist over tone and that leaves a bad taste in the mouth of anyone who read it to know about a new automobile.
For all the racist comments and lame jokes, has anyone noticed that this thing is a death trap and will probably mean more to Indian surgeons than Indian drivers?
"... the RE60, supposedly, seats four passengers.. " Seeing as how 400 Indians will crowd onto a 100 passenger train, I can't wait to see how this works out for the turban jockeys.
Good theme, used to use it but decided to change over to another one just recently. Psicologas en rosario y psicologia en rosario para la ansiedad y depresion o depresivo. Richard Bandler estubo en Argentina.
