On Fareed Zakaria GPS this week: The fallout from Francois Hollande’s win in France; Peter Mandelson, Josef Joffe, Elaine Sciolino and David Frum's feisty debate on Europe; how Israel has anointed a "King" and BlackRock Chairman & CEO Larry Fink's take on the global economy.
And: an exclusive interview with the World Bank's Robert Zoellick. In his first TV “exit interview,” the outgoing World Bank president weighs in on the rumors that Mitt Romney would offer him the Secretary of State job if Romney wins the presidency:
FAREED ZAKARIA: It's no secret, Bob, that many people think if Mitt Romney were elected president, he would turn to you, perhaps, to be Secretary of State, perhaps Secretary of Treasury. You're an unusual figure in that you could plausibly take both jobs or either job. You couldn't take both. Will you get more active in advising Gov. Romney once you leave this job?
ZOELLICK: Well, I think it's important not to be presumptuous. And so I appreciate you - the compliment that you posed, but in this job, I haven't been able to be engaged in politics. So that question will have to wait until I leave - on June 30th.
Watch more in the video above.
Zoellick has worked with the Obama administration during his tenure at the World Bank. What does he think of the administration's foreign policy? Watch below:
Zoellick on global poverty:
Wow...its hard to tell from the short clips, but he seems like a very reasonable person who considers the whole issue. Not what I usually see from someone being considered for a GOP position. I'll give Mitt Romney credit if he moves forward with this person.
Indeed Robert Zoellick made an impression of being rational and intelligent.
In an interview with the BBC ahead of the G20 Summit in Washington in November 2008, Zoellick warned against the vicious circle of budget cuts and said they created social unrest and political turbulences. HE SAID THAT INFRASTRUCTURE, WHICH IS THE FUTURE SOURCE OF GROWTH OF A COUNTRY SUFFERS UNDER MASSIVE SPENDING CUTS.
Zoellick should support the Obama's.Infrastructure Progamme.
@ jvh; I hope you're following and had a chance to look at my previous suggestion on derivatives. Step 2 is to look at and familiarize yourself with what we call a "convertible hedge". You can google it.
Please help me I'm being helded held hostage at this address 7065 Belding Rd Rockford MI 49341. Please call the Grand Rapids Police and 1-616-874-3177.
I have contacted this number the police have investigated. Nothing to report they said. So they are aware. Others have called them. I hope everything is ok....I hope this wasn't a prank there are a number of people out there that need help.....As I have said b4 the Grand Rapids police have been notified.
If a person has access to a computer and can post a message on this website, they could also contact the local police or even the FBI. This is obvious prank and probably illegal.
Anybody that has a haircut and a mustache that looks like a storm trouper you should be VERY wary of
The guy would have to actually win the Presidency first and that's no guarantee at all.

Zakaria uses these interviews as leftist intelligence gathering sessions in order to plan his next move in bringing down anyone who does not support Obama.
Muldoon, Sir Robert (b. 21 Sept. 1921, d. 5 Aug. 1992). Prime Minister of New Zealand 1975–84 Never received with enthusiasm; indeed he was universally called 'Piggy Muldoon, because of his glaring little eyes and his arrogant and generally terrible manners. In 1977, despite the fact that his own accounting co had gone bankrupt, he was Chairman Board of Governors IMF and World Bank. During his regime, NZ was under austerity measures and the NZ government owned bank saw to it that every resident was mailed a credit card. This is the type of folks who are officers of the World Bank. The US needs to leave the World Bank.

Seems like a good tomato. Let's hope he doesn't go rotten. -JERSEYTOMATO 2012
Oh great, another right wing rich guy ready to ruin my life more than it did during the Bush years. Should have asked him what he thinks about Social Security.
The reality is the GOP has always disliked any program that they perceive to be socialistic including Social Security and Medicare. I believe both of these programs need to be self funded 100% or they will be in trouble. Having said that millions of Americans depend on both of these programs to meet their essential needs. I remember when I retired at age 54 that healthcare insurance escalated from $600 a month for my wife and me to $2300 a month before I was eligible for Medicare. My wife and I were healthy and between us took only one prescription drug costing $15 a month. We never had a serious medical condition. I wrote a check for $6,900 every quarter despite having the financial assets to cover any medical emergency. Why? To protect our core retirement assets. I learned from this experience that healthcare insurance companies are simply greedy and must be regulated.
Republicans are not against Social Security or Medicare. The people that paid into the system should be getting money out of the system.
Let's talk welfare, food stamps, subsidized housing and medicaid. These were created for the working poor, not as the financial base for people. Generational welfare is the big issue and cost. Get a job....no job then no benefits. Both St. Paul and Lenin said "if you don't work, then you don't eat."
Okay, let's also talk about corporate welfatre, the Pentagon (like the F-22 boondoggle), and income tax rates for the welathy.
Welfare is miniscule compared to other things. You have the right to your opinion, but, thankfully, the majority of people in this country do not want starving and begging people everywhere, regardless of the reasons for their poverty, and will do the best to at least keep that from happening.
Nerver heard of Paul Ryan?
Are people abusing the system yes but is it better to punish hardworking people that fall on hard times or suffer car wreck or cancer something making them unable to work? Should kids starve to death because there parents are worthless. Nothing bothers me more than the percent of the population that just decides to live off the government but some good people need it. If I were gonna make cuts one I would get rid of all government contracts prisons, IRS, Military contractors so on companys don't do this for free there is a profit in it and that is just more the taxpayer pays for the same job the prisoners should be doing highway work and picking up trash and non violent crimes like bad checks or dui can work for free for the government to pay back society for there crime. People living on welfare and food stamps could also be given jobs even if its picking up trash on there city block if the fail well to jail and to work. Most handicapped people would probably be happy to do something most people want to work and feel needed
The government has always been the collateral source. Farm price supports which go mostly to rural republican voting farmers is the largest percentage of welfare in the government budget.
Are you nuts? Businesses are failing, folks are being laid off.....most people WANT a job, not welfare.....maybe you haven't heard that things are tough out there.......what blizzard are you in?
Seems like reasonable guy... not a right wing nut... hope he is given something important whoever comes next time around...
Seems like a resonable guy – not a left wing liberal nutjob.
No thank you.
just what we need, another jew maggot banker like bernanke to further ruin our economy.
Your vicious anti-Jew garbage post has been forwarded to CNN for ABUSE. Have fun. By the way, maybe you should reverse your polio vaccination and the thousands of other drugs, procedures and other discoveries of Jews in science who have probably been responsible for the fact that you are even alive today. Or what YOU call alive....
With intelligent analysis like that "told," it seems likely that you'll ruin your economy no matter who is in charge, even a Buddist.
Robert Zoellick does not fit the mold of the rigid religious right Republican. He was appointed by President George W. Bush. He is well educated (Swarthmore and Harvard) and worked for Goldman Sachs. BTW, someone said he was a "jew maggot banker" which is incorrect. Zoellick is of German heritage and is a Lutheran. He leans right toward the GOP but is a registered Independent. He would be an excellent advisor for any President.
he would be an excellent chose ! anything is better than obama's liberal tax and spend crew.
As opposed to the GOP borrow and spend crew? Hahahahahahahaha
Asking the World Bank President to give a cure for poverty is akin to asking Osama Bin Laden on ways to promote Christianity .. it is clear from global events that the banking industry has been allowed to run on unfettered greed free from regulation so that they can be even more invasive in peoples lives and sucking up their industry. Banks need to be tightly controlled , they are blood suckers by nature .. when you stop believing that you die! Whey they screw up you get to bail them out .. what a great deal for them . Never give them your back ..
Does this mean that Turbo Tax Timmy will have to find another job ?
the obama recession is tearing the american economy apart i dont think we can last till november this clown has the united states spiraling towards another great depression.
I'm doing better than ever, sorry you're not.
I am too most peoples debt has fallen and are doing much better than 3 years ago
That would be the Bush recession. Clinton = boom times: Bush = recession: Obama = slow recovery: You = delusional. See if your radio has an FM band for assistance in provoking rational thought.
I am 85 years old and I have never known a republican president or any republican politicians to do any thing good for the majority of citizens of the US. They are all power hungry, greedy, corrupt and their main goal is to rule this country like a
dictator. Take a look at all the countries that have had and still have dictators, if we allow them access to our country again, this is the direction we will go. Republicans pretend to dislike these countries, but it is the kind of power they want. They want to tell you what you can and cannot do. Just like slaves were and are treated as the dictators treat the citizens of their countries. My ancestors bought me my freedom with their ives in every war fought by this country and I will never give it up. We citizens are the EMPLOYER of all politicians and it's time we vote to remove them. I want to keep Barack Obama as President as he is the best one we have ever had. To bad republicans don't realize this and work with him for all our good. We need to keep religion out of politics and politics out of religion and our private personal lives. Take care of the economy and our country. Greed is a terrible disease.
I think you had partial amnesia. Because everything you talked about control, is policy of leftist/socialist President Obama. He wants to mandate insurance, he wants to tell people how much to make (if you are going to start taxing too much after a limit, they will keep their income under that.). He wants to have UNIONS which controls labor workforce. What else?
I'm not as old as you, Granny, but I do remember that Eisenhower did a lot of great things for this country during his two terms. A better job than Reagan, who exploded the debt and dealt with a recession by doubling the size of the government and creating a terrible period of inflation. Ultimately, Reagan will be recognized as the most over-rated president in US history. I also think that Nixon, as terrible as he was, did some great things. He opened up China and he also supported a national insurance mandate - just like Robert Dole, Newt Gingrich, John McCain and Mitt Romney. Granted, the Democrat presidents have done a better job. Certainly, Clinton was better than either Bush. It is difficult to rate Obama right now because most of the things he has wanted to do have been blocked by the most hostile, obstructive Congress since the Civil War. Even Newt Gingrich, who wanted to impeach Bill Clinton, was able to work better with Clinton than the current Congress of extreme right-winger and Tea Partyers whose hatred for Obama seems to transcend policy differences.
obama has had an awful foreign policy
Examples please. He has accomplished everything he has set out to do internationally, unlike his predecessor.
A FOX News parrot who has no facts.
Republicans group-think even if they are educated and intelligent and that inhibits intellectual curiosity while promoting mediocrity when it comes to decision-making. No matter how good or bad an idea, the GOP will have folks to sell that to the American people through their select media sources, senators who will write such laws and judges who will interpret said laws as they see fit. It is already a "dictatorship" in the United States as one party is beholden to corporate interests backed by religious zealots while the other party tries to negotiate with them, in vain.
To bad people have such short term memories. When Clinton left we were in good shape and he drove us into the dirt and broke our country, then ate and ran and left Obama to pickup the check. All the republican politicians and some of our prejudiced democrats sworn to make him a one term president and none have worked with him for the good of our country. A house divided against itself cannot stand. These politicians are supposed to work for all of us, not against us. Republicans work for themselves and all the wealthy donors and corporations. If citizens do not vote against them, we will be where we were during the early nineteen hundreds. We need people who will work together for all of us not just the rich. St. Matthew, Ch. 19, Vs. 24 "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. The all claim to be Christians, but none seem to have read the GOOD BOOK.
Granny, Bush inherited a recession that occurred after the Internet bubble in 1999 and the laying off of 100,000 plus programmers after the Y2K scare was done.
We need people to get off trhe dole and get a job. Get a degree in something other than liberal arts.
Remember the words of St. Paul "if a person will not work then don't let them eat " (2 Thessalonians 3:10).
I admire your logic and accurate recall of the reality of our past. I realize that any time someone has the backbone to stand up for Obama and the Democrats and the truth, there are those who are driven by pure hatred and feel the need to put you down. You go, girl!
Mittens better make sure he's not gay first. Otherwise, some redneck pastor of the Church of the Flat Earth in Strangled Frog, Arkansas might say something and Mittens would have to fire him.
Lay off Arkansas. We work hard, pay taxes, and some of us are probably better educated than you are. That said, Mittins is too much of a trust fund baby to be trusted.
Correction: Clinton left us in good shape, Bush drove us into the dirt, then ate and ran and left Obama to pick up the check and he is still trying with no help from republicans and some democrats, we need to get rid of them and many of the governors. None of them are interested in the citizens just themselves.
Zoellick is all talks! Growth and social safety net? If countries, especially the US, stop funding the World Bank, Zoellick will be looking for his own safety net for sure.
Zoellick, BTW, talks is cheap!
The GOP solution: Turn all the Old, Sick, Poor, Non-white, Non-christian, Unemployed, and Gay people into slaves. Then whip them until they are Young, Healthy, Rich, White, Christian, Employed, and Straight. Or until they are dead. Then turn them into Soylent Green to feed the military.
Every week Zakariah makes a bid for Obama. His question to Fink from Black Rock "will you support Obama in the next election?" Not "who will you support in the next election." Such blatant bias is sickening. Reset your GPS!
Zakaria is an Obama shill, nearly **ALWAYS** doing whatever he can to prop up this lame, failed President and shield him from criticism. He is also one of the members of the Yale Corporation who is in charge of Ethical and Financial Investments for Yale, and no lover of Israel for sure....
If it gets out that Romney actually likes this guy, it will hurt him with Tea Partyers because he has come out in favor of government spending during an economic downturn and fully support repairing the infrastructure. No doubt, Romney will now have to say that he is considering many people and it is premature to talk about anybody specifically. He won't say he like or dislikes Zoellick. That would be out of character for Romney.
Why can't you people at CNN post the ENTIRE interview segment as one clip?? Makes no sense whatsoever why you guys are so damn stingy with these kinds a content. They're the best thing you got going!
Now what democracy are we talking here? Democracy has been twisted in many ways. I have been living in America since last 6 years now but I dont exist still and I have no rights what so ever because I have no work permit and no social security number. I am an ideal case of H4 visa holder-dependent visa. Most of us are women because we get married to H1 visa holders. I dont feel that I have any freedom or even the right to speak because there is no body to listen. I am writing because I want some one to raise this concern of H4 wives
