Pakistan on the cusp of change?

By CNN Global Public Square

For more “What in the World,” watch "Fareed Zakaria GPS" on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET

Earlier this month, the Pakistani Taliban opened fire on a school bus. Two girls were shot. At first, it seemed a familiar story. The Taliban, after all, has bombed hundreds of schools, especially those for girls.

But here's what's new: Mass protests ensued against the Taliban, and in favor of women. That's startling and refreshing in Pakistan.

This past week, thousands of demonstrators thronged to the streets to protest the Taliban's brutality towards women. They're rallying around one person, 14-year-old Malala Yousufzai. Malala was one of the girls who was shot on that school bus. She was not an accidental target. The Taliban directly sought her out and shot her in the head. They wanted to kill not only Malala, but what she stood for. Here's why:

"I will show them the Koran, what Koran says. Koran didn't say that girls are not allowed to go to school"

Malala exposed the lie of Islamic extremists – and they were willing to kill her for it.

But she survived, and so has her argument. Her courage in taking on the Taliban has inspired moderate Pakistanis.

We've been waiting for this kind of moment for a while. What will it take for moderate Pakistanis to unite against extremism? For years now, fundamentalist groups have tried to turn Pakistan into a theocracy. They've scared girls into forgoing school, they've repressed women, they've pushed for draconian interpretations of Pakistan's blasphemy law. But where was the pushback? Just last year, when a state governor, Salman Taseer, spoke out against the misuse of the blasphemy law, he was gunned down. Outside the court, his killer was greeted with rose petals. Where was the public outcry?

Perhaps the last time we saw sustained public anger against the Taliban was three years ago, when a video of a woman being flogged circulated on the internet and on Pakistani TV. That moment led to mass support for military action against the Taliban.

So perhaps the tide is turning once again. Pakistanis often blame the West for their problems, protesting against America, against drone strikes, or even against YouTube. But the real enemy lies within. And it took a 14-year-old girl to bring that to people's attention.

Pakistan's youth literacy rate is only 71 percent; take South Asia as a whole and that number rises to 80 percent; it rises to 90 percent when you take the whole world into account. Girls fare especially badly in Pakistan. There are only 79 Pakistani schoolgirls for every 100 schoolboys. In South Asia that number is 95, and in the whole world it’s 97.

But you don't need a World Bank database to spot these trends. Just ask any schoolgirl in Pakistan.

Women are often seen as the stealth reformers of Islam. As they press for their rights, it will force a more liberal and flexible interpretation of the religion. And while politicians have been cowardly and hesitant, a 14-year-old girl has led the charge. Here's wishing her a complete recovery, so she can get back in the fight for her country and her religion.

Fareed, let's hope that Malala's case would turn the tide in Pakistan. Indeed the 2009 video showing Taliban militants flogging a teenage girl in the Swat Valley created similar anger across the country and served as a catalyst for a military operation that wiped militants out of Swat.

The American invasion of Afghanistan brought to the forefront the irrelevance of India as a nation. With a population of over 1.2 billion people there was no value that this nation could bring to the table. Their soldiers (ragtag) 1.2 million continue hiding in the trenches scared from Talibans. A few teenage Talibans invaded the country and held it hostage for days on end showing how useless India is. It was embarrasing for the world to observe this humiliation of a nation that was being touted as a regional power. The Talibans brought them down in a few days with some BB guns. It is all over for India. Its demise is in process and should be completed with Afghanistan withdrawal

@India: india is not the only country thats progressing. Others including Pakistan (despite all the troubles) are also progressing at more or less similar pace. Indians are in fact obsessed with Pakistan. They are the only nation that wishes ill and evil for Pakistan and wants to see it fail. Others like the US truely desire a more stable Pakistan as Pakistan and United States have ALWAYS been partners unlike opportunist India which was in the Soviet camp during the cold war. There are differences between most countries and even allies. But good partners can always find ways to mend the ties. The US and Pakistan will find a middle path between the differences (like they always have) and will remain allies and partner. That's what people in these two countires ultimately desire. India will remain irrelevent. (There is a difference between a big country and a great country. India is big because it has way too many people, mostly poor as hell. But there is no way India is great. There is nothing of value in it for people to see, learn or admire!)

Problems in Pakistan are created by both Pakistanis and outsiders, particularly American policy in that region. America brought lots of problems in Pakistan....from supporting dictatorships to creating Mujaahdins (now Talibans) in 1980s to fight Soviet Union in Afghanistan and now fighting Taliban in that country. America had used, and still using, Pakistan a staging ground to fight its wars. When wars are going constantly for years and years next door to a neighbouring country like Pakistan, it is no brainer to see spilling over into that country. And its over 30 years since America is engaged in fighting wars in that part of the world alone......not counting other Middle-Eastern countries!

Are you sure you live in NY? You seem to have too much Pakistan in you. Also, this might sound like a revelation to someone who is as tunnel visioned as you – Pakistan is in no way comparable to China, India or say, even the poorest country in Europe.

With some help, Afghanistan probably has some hope as they are willing to learn from their problems. You folks though are incorrigible and hence irredeemable.

Don't stop dreaming, though. When reality betrays your deepest desires, dreams are the only resort. Freud would agree with me.

The Aghori or Aghouri is a Hindu cult that is considered to have split off from the Kapalika order in the fourteenth century AD. They have cannibalistic rituals. The streets of northern Indian cities are littered with followers of this cult carrying a kapala, which is a cup made from a skull! These bizarre people will eat anything from rotten food to animal faeces. In order to achieve the highest citadel of enlightenment, the Aghori will perform horrendously crude rituals. The finality of their rituals is attained from eating the decaying flesh of a human.

This is good news. Fareed is pointing out that people in Pak are now realizing how important it is to rally around this poor hero that only wants education. The problem is that reporters are to afraid to say the obvious truth and that is that organized religeon is a catalyst for hatred. No father wants his children to be kind out of fear of "Thy father", fathers want their children to be kind because it is the right way to be. Lose your bibles and Korans and find hope in yourself because IF god is there, this hatred of others was not his/her intent.

A reasonable follow-up article would be some investigative reporting on who finances the Taliban (hint: ROYAL HOUSE OF SAUD). CNN readers need to know why these alleged "friends" of the US give the Taliban some much support. But, hey, that wold require some investigative journalism, something NO ONE at CNN does anymore. Sad...

It's the Pakistani military who exercise the most direct control over the Taliban. The Taliban are ultimately their creation, recruited and brainwashed to become fanatical henchmen for Pakistan's shadowy praetorian military rulers, in furtherance of their hegemonic ambitions at home and abroad.

INDIA: On a Goat and a Stick:

The problem with India is that is built on a system of cultural and societal values based on Hinduism which is a cult. Nations built on a cult seldom survive in the long run. You can only take it so far based on symbolisms of a goat and a stick with a skinny little man aka gandhi banging boys at night and spinning wheels during daytime.

        CJ,

Please do not open your mouth until you put your brain into gear, first.

Hinduism is neither a cult nor for all intents and purposes, a religion. It is first and foremost a philosophical translation of life and how to live it. The many gods/goddesses you see are incarnations of ONE GOD. The only main tenet is reincarnation, which many explain as 'intuition', 'gut-feeling' etc, but probably is based somewhat on past lives.

Do a little research before you criticize a billion people for following their way of life.

Fareed, if we look back over the last 1500 years or so, Islam did start as a reformist religion with respect to the social structure as well the religious structure prevalent at that time. Then Sufis, Sikhs and Faqirs extended further reforms in the societies around them. When I read this article, I have a feeling that Pakistanis are fearful of executing reforms and hence they are taking tentative steps towards further reforms as well as reassure their faith towards a religion which reformed many archaic cultures.

I can vandalize a bible, work on Sunday, delcare at the top of my luings that God doesn't exist, make a movie depicting Jesus as gay and no church has any authorty to do anything about it except complain. Not true 200 years ago, then I would have recieved the Taliban treatment for my blasphemy. It is up to you and the other non-brain dead Muslims to take away all power of enforcement from your religion, let them advise and threaten, but give them no authority to do anything about anything.

Time for the inteligent Muslims to put a stop to all government backed support of religious idiocy. Put religion back where it belongs, in the dark ages or the trailer parks.

Zakaria and Malala is right. But the quran DOES say that women are inferior to men, and that a man can beat his wife. The inferiority passage is what the taliban is enforcing. The passage is:
Koran Surah 4:34 – Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and forsake them in beds apart, and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them. Allah is high and supreme.

Since Allah himself views women as inferior to men and is ok with wife-b_eating, all the taliban are doing is enforcing this "divine" law.
Malala going to school empowers her to be more educated than the taliban men, thus this goes against Allah's will as she will be intellectually superior to the taliban.

Unfortunately, Pakistan, like the US, has a large group of right-wing conservatives willing to suppress women whenever the opportunity arises. Not a lot of difference between the Tahliban and the Tea party nuts, both are religious fanatics willing to force their views on others.

In India, millions of girls are strangled, slowly starved or simply tossed in the trash. Moreover, in India, at least 1,370 girls are aborted every day. As a comparison, some 250 Indians die every day in road accidents. Terrorists killed about six people, on an average, every day in 2009. In the last two decades of economic progress, 10 million girls have died as such in India.

Start from ones closest to you..its the ripple effect. Pakistan has to shun the strict interpretation and apllication of certain rulings. There are great muslims scholars in the US like Yasir Qadhi who have such an excellent message on how to blend Islam with the modern world. Such mssgs need to be promoted in that part of the world. Also, since you are close to the Obama Admin, pls let them know what is often repeated- Stop droning people out of existence! It impedes any and every reform process! HINDU KALI – GODDESS OF VIOLENCE/TERRORISM

A recent report by United Press trust of India (UPI) stated that during the past three years more than 2,500 young boys and girls were sacrificed to goddess Kali in India. Another of AFP's recent reports say: hundreds of young boys and virgin girls are sacrificed every month for the deity Kali. In one case Rama Sewak hacked his eight year old son to death in broad daylight in Delhi because goddess Kali had told him he would come back to life and bring him good fortune. Bloodthirsty Kali is worshipped openly the length and breadth of India. Kali's statue stands naked astride the inanimate body of the Hindu deity Shiva, tongue stuck out with blood dripping from fang-like teeth. She holds a noose, a skull-topped staff, a blood-encrusted sword and a severed head. She is also known as Durga, Devi, Shaktima, Uma and Parvathi in other manifestations. The priest of Delhi, Kali Bari, says that a child sacrificed to Kali ensures a man the birth of a son. Human sacrifices are also made to these gods or goddesses, either to appease them or to ask favours of them.

      HINDUISM: LINGAM & YONI
Lingam and Yoni are the male and female s@xual organs respectively. Hindus are allowed to worship anything – including s@xual organs. It is not unknown for them to name their children Shiva Lingam (God Shiva's s@xual organ) or Rama Lingam (God Rama's s@xual organ). (In some places in Karnataka, the gods demand both male and females to pray naked together.)

What we call "extremists" when talking about religions are those who actually follow the letter of their holy books. For someone to be a moderate in Islam, Christianity, or Judaism relies on that person to ignore portions of their own text or devising an interpretation that fits their non-religious beliefs.

We remain extremely appalled and highly concerned about the continued medieval cultural and barbaric social practices prevalent in the name of Hinduism in India. Much to our chagrin, the human rights organizations are either turning a blind eye towards these injustices or are being paid off to look the other way. We are particularly aware of the victims of such practices, namely, young children and women especially those women who are pregnant and are bearing a female embryo. They are being mistreated or simply sacrificed in the name of their deities. To the civilized world such atrocious behavior is repulsive and is condemned in the strongest words. We urge the Indian Hindus to immediately cease and desist from such unacceptable norms. To them we say the world is watching and will see to it that justice prevails.

With such "Dark Age" culture still in existence in India how can the world be healthy and the neighbors prosperous. India poses a grave danger to the world and its deities and leaders set a bad example. Mahatma Gandhi, a pedophile, needs to be exposed and tried posthumously for his child molestation crimes just like the Penn State crowd Sandusky et al. Gandhi's statutes need to be knocked down everywhere they have been put in USA. The hindu deities need to be shattered and trashed. Disgusting figurines of ugly and scary looking characters with demonic personalities. How can hindu children grow up mentally stable looking at such atrocious representations of evil in its most heinous form.

It is no secret that Hitler and his Nazi cronies sought inspiration from Indian extremist groups including the branding of his Nazi Party by adopting the Swastika, a traditionally Hindu symbol and representation of Hindu god Ganesha, as its marketing tool. The thesis being that like the Norwegian massacre the Jewish holocaust orchestrated by Hitler was inspired by the inherently violent cult of Indian Hindus and the manifesto of its then extremist/terrorist groups still in existence today. These groups are now the successors to and carrying out the vision of Al Qaeda all over the world albeit in a clandestine manner.

If the Hindu man's wife dies, he is free to go and find another beautiful woman when he wants. But if the Hindu woman's husband dies, not only is she prohibited to remarry but she should be cremated along with her dead husband ("Sati").
When His "Holiness" Puri Shankaracharya was asked about the fate of the widow's children, he replied – "it is fate! Let the children suffer or die without a mother. But SATI has to be performed according to Hinduism".

PAKI enough of supporting pakistan...In pakistan a man can take as many wives he can when he is alive. Atleast in india the man can take wife when she is dead , like in western countries. And as far as SATI is considered , its practice has severly declined in post independent india and many women are remarrying after their husband's death.

This article is correct but speaking as an outsider (non-muslim,) there seems to be confusion between religion (which appears not to forbid the education of girls) and local culture, which appears to be quite misogynistic. It would be useful to have more discussion and coverage of why and how this situation can exist and perpetuate.

I am an american but travelling India for last 20 years for my business. I have lot of hindu and muslim friends. Hindus and muslims live in India like brothers. They respect each other and never ever think about insulting any one. Why Pakistan muslims hate hinduism so much. Irony is that they do not know any thing about hinduism. Whatever nonsense they are spreading about hinduism is completely false and baseless. As I am so frequent visitor to India, I also invested lot of my time to read Indian culture and especially Vedic India. Vedic civilization is the only oldest civilization that considers women not only equal to men but even superior to men. Women were accorded the highest respect and respected as Mother. If someone is really curious to know Hinduism, then please read books written by Vivekanand. I have read his all four books and I am so much surprised to see the richness of Indian culture. Please get the true knowledge about hinduism and you will be surprised how global and spiritual their culture is.

The only reason Pakis hate hindus or hinduism because everyday Mullah start filling their brain with hatredness against Hindu. They tell so many twisted stories and convince every muslim child that all hindus are filthy and hinduism is the worst religion. I am telling you the truth. Because I am muslim girl but was born in NY. However, my parents were born in Pakistan and they told me that how much they hated hindus because of all the pathetic teachings they got from Mullah when they were young. But fortunately, they realized their mistake when they met lot of hindus in NY and most of them are our family friends. Can you imagine how Mullahs in Pakistan are spreading cancer of hatredness. The situation of Pakistani people is that they are like frogs in very dark well and jump from one wall to another wall, thinking they are the best and will spend whole life in living that hell of darkness.

Tragically, in India people are dying of hunger. Why are low caste poor Hindus prohibited from eating beef? People stop their cars, and sit for hours waiting for a cow to clear the roadway, thinking it to be sacred. In India cow meat is cheaper than other available meats. Instead of these Brahmins taking care of the low caste peoples of India, they are doing their best to save their "holy" cows instead. This is evil. According to Valmith's Ramayana, God Rama "ATE" meat. So then "why" have these Brahmins given up beef-eating? It's hypocrisy within their own religion.

I totally agree with you that century-long religious traditions are sometimes incompatible with the reality and needs of people. However, in India, this practice is in the category of "stupidity". The same contractdition you find in our Chritian-based US that I would rather have unwanted children suffer for their entire life then allow abortion as a choice for a woman. Thebiggest problem I have with the conservatives who talked of the preciousness of life, compassion and love do not jive with their extreme view on guns, welfare and war.

You are muslim from Pakistan. You do not know the realities of India. Though I am an american but have visited India so many times, I am very much familiar with their system. Currently lower caste people are actually gaining maximum benefits and enjoying their reservation rights based on just birth based caste system. Have you heard about Mayawati. I have visited her state. She belongs to lower caste but she had been chief minister. There are thousands of these type of examples. Regarding beef eating, no one stops anyone to eat any meat. Hindus generally do not prefer to eat non-veg and also believe that cow provides milk so treat cow as their mother, do not eat beef. Regarding Ram, how do you know he ate meat. I have read Ramayan, Gita and books written by Swami Vivekanand, I have not found anywhere that ancient people used to eat beef or for that matter any meat. Please get real knowledge, and do not spread lies about hinduism.

Whether you are a conservative or liberal, be ware of the importance of separation of church and state in our country.Religions belong to the church, not in the political arena, and it is for an individual's spirituality growth. Think about what this country would look like if the church still rules our societies. No one is trying to attack Christians as long as they do not step over the boundry. If the church teaching is compatible with the 21th century, it will thrive.

We now need to focus on India.

We continue to read with interest the thesis presented on CNN that "less is more" in a political context as applied to India. Although Mies Van Der Rohe adopted this in an architectural context, its economic and political connotations are indeed powerful. Empowering subjugated minorities in India by splitting it into smaller states would trigger uber economic demand for western nations who have given so much financial and technology aid to India with no return to show for the investment. We concur with this approach and find the premise to be on solid footing. Central Asian States (CAS) are a case in point on this successful approach. We need to understand that India has an unmanageable large population mired in poverty and we are spinning our wheels trying to feed it. It is also too big of a geographical unit to govern. Again, we saw how a few teenage talibans were able to invade it with a few BB guns. And that says a lot... in a negative way not only for a large unmanageable country like India but also for USA which is trying to prop it up against China. Malala doesn't seem like the person who would want something like a nuke being dropped on the heads on her enemies any way. Besides, those in hiding can't stay hidden for long, so it's just a matter of time before they are taken down for the terrible crimes they have committed.

"Amnesty International has concluded that there is strong evidence that members of India’s Provincial Armed Constabulary were responsible for the Muslim massacre (hundreds of thousands) and the deliberate killing of unarmed civilians during the riots and following days."
The report added that witnesses had charged PAC officers (all Brahmins and High caste Hindus) of herding Muslims into trucks and later shooting them dead (raping the Muslim ladies, in most cases). Their bodies were then tossed into canals and rivers.

taliban were never representing true islamic values, had they been doing so, the public would have accepted them long ago ... both conservatives and moderates do not like them ...they are only using the hilly terrain to their advantage that is how they hide from military .. but there is a lot of anti-US sentiment in Pakistan .. and when it comes to choose between taliban or US .. majority would go with taliban because of the massive anti-US sentiment .. as people believe that US buys people in power to make them to its dirty work when they got votes from people and they are suppose to serve people.

Your research has some lack of information. When you say "But you don't need a World Bank database to spot these trends. Just ask any schoolgirl in Pakistan" you mean the entire Nation? I don't agree with the fact that the entire Nation is against supporting young girls education. The matter of fact is that less than 5% (in Urban areas) people are facing such issues. Majority of the nurses, doctors, and other medical field related graduates are women. Female literacy rate in Pakistan is 61% and total of 54.9% of adults and 70.7% of youth are literate according to UNICEF.

Living in self denial and thinking that everything is fine in my country is going one step backwards. This article is about Pakistan and Taliban and some of the comments here are about India. My country India may not be the most beautiful place, nor corruption free, some regions in India may follow age old practices, not safe for new born girls. The above issues most of them arise due to lack of education, not from any religious based sections. Our progress in these issues may be very very less, but still moving towards the right direction.

His wife kept begging to free her husband for the sake of her unborn twins but NO none of the so called Malala supporters or moderate Pakistani's every raised a voice for her or even held a support rally.
Malala's case is no more than a PR job for Pakistani army, ISI, its government and Pakistani people to gain world sympathy and to try playing as a victim. Even a chameleon cannot change colors so fast...................

That of Indian government which is on life support system blaming Pakistan for all the ills in Indian society. Let's face it, India is a decadent culture and economy on the verge of collapse. India has become a dinosaur. A Smithsonian specimen. Like humpty dumpty even USA, NATO and the entire free world are having a tough time holding it together. Living in the shadows of Pakistan, defined by China, haunted by Kashmir and punctuated by Terror Organizations such as Shiv Sena, India is struggling to find a meaning for its existence and a place in the new world order. A PRIMER FOR MIDDLE EAST:::
THE ECONOMIC SUBJUGATION OF INDIA & The Taming of Hindus!!!
The one most successful aspect of recent American foreign policy has been the conquest of India without firing a bullet. That is the beauty of capitalism used as a Trojan Horse! Economic victory! Give them a taste of steak and they will never settle for hamburgers again. USA now owns India Inc. not only economically but also militarily as economic subjugation ultimately leads to military domination. The recent win for US multinationals has been pressuring the Indian Govt to open up majority ownership of domestic companies by foreign investors. US will now be virtually able to control the government policies in India via remote control in Wash D.C.

" Here's wishing her a complete recovery, so she can get back in the fight for her country and her religion."

I wish Mr. Zakaria would wake up and realize that Islam itself, never mind "radical" Islam, is not on the side of this hero. In Islam if the male guardians over a girl want her to stay away from schooling then that's it.

    The Qur'an (Allah's dictation) says
"Men have authority over women, because god has made the one superior to the other." (4:34)
" As for those women from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send then to beds apart and beat them. "(4:35).

Islam has got to go, under it there is no long range hope for Western-like civilization given all that Islam demands, including death for rebellion against it.

It's an interesting assertion, but the information being provided by Pakistani newspapers (both in their articles and in the comments on articles) suggest otherwise. The attack on Malala was condemned by a council of Islamic scholars. In that condemnation the scholars argued the ultimate responsibility for the attack lay with the United States. The view that the United States funds the Taliban as a means of discrediting Islam and providing a pretext for an invasion of Pakistan is widely held by many Pakistanis and, as we see, by many of the leading religious scholars who guide public opinion.

Pakistanis have not taken responsibility for this attack, neither as an attempted murder carried out by Pakistanis or as a corrupt byproduct of the largest religion in their country; they have blamed the United States and, once again, ducked any responsibility for the actions of terrorists they helped to produce. They have not begun asking hard questions and taking hard actions, they have cast blame and denied responsibility.

We continue to monitor the economic, political and cultural bubble burst/malaise in India and are very concerned with the continued state of deterioration. At this point, we restate our view that India is in a precarious situation and that a geo-political implosion is imminent (if not already in process) and the need of the hour. As you will recall, India has an unmanageable large population mired in poverty and we are spinning our wheels trying to prop it up. Additionally, it is also too big of a geographical unit to govern. Americans now need to focus on its own people and cannot afford to handout more financial and technological aid to India.

Malala exemplifies the freedom of thought and emancipation that women in Pakistan enjoy. She embodies the support and respect women have in Pakistan...a predominantly Islamic society with modern outlook. She serves as an example to all neighborly countries where women are still subjugated such as in India, Afghanistan, Iran .

I think the issue is more complex. Taliban is trying to force a civil war, where the large moderate population will have to take sides. And these protests show that they are succeeding. We should be careful about asking pakistani government to be more forceful. A civil war will be very bloody, and that does not mean Taliban will be eliminated. We should be asking more fundamental questions like what are the grievances of Taliban and the source of their frustration that leads to such violence, and what can be done to alleviate their true grievances.

Pakistan has way too many men in power who consider militant groups, such as Taliban, as assets to be used against neighbors. It also has built an assembly line of so called religious schools, funded by Saudi fanatics, that brainwashes children from the age of five till they are eighteen into killers. When such 'structural' facilities are available, fanatics will flourish and grow, Taliban were trained in Pakistan and sent to take over Afghanisthan. Pakistan was among the first nation to recognize them when they took over Afghanisthan; If they are good enough for Afghans, why can't they also rule Pakistan by the same brutal violence. Blaming others will not help Pakistan one bit. Time to look inwards and fix the rut.

The non-state militancy and state sponsored militancy are taking Pakistan towards destruction. It can always be arrested and reversed, if only the people of Pakistan unite against it.

Pakistan's enemy is Pakistan, its people. Why ? They are biggest intolerant society on this earth. Hate is the fuel for them since Pakistan was created. They hate everybody equally, Christians, Hindus' Buddhishts, Jews. We all have been z i 0 n i s t s and K a f i r 's for them since day one of creation of Pakistan.
Its a gone case and joke in the name of a country. Dangerously it has evolved as a cancer to the world as a terrorist factory.

This entire Malala episode is blown out of proportion and has given our PLAGIARIST, ISLAMIC SUPPORTER Mr.Zakaria an opportunity to SUGARCOAT ISLAM for GULLIBLE AMERICANS!

Surely, everyone's sympathies lie with that little girl, who in her own way fought for the right for girl's eduaction.

Rest of the following talk by Mr.Zakaria is all BALOONEY!

    a) “I will show them the Koran, what Koran says. Koran didn't say that girls are not allowed to go to school"

What Mr. Zakaria needs to know is that there is hardly anything that we INFIDELS see good in the Holy Koran, be it treatment of their own women, forget the non-believers.

    b) “They've pushed for draconian interpretations of Pakistan's blasphemy law.”
Draconian interpretations? It's a draconian law, which needs to be confined to the trash can. There are hardly any Pakistanis (NOT even the murdered Governor Taseer) who have ever asked for throwing that damn law out......forget about interpretations.

    c) Her courage in taking on the Taliban has inspired moderate Pakistanis?
Where are they? Even after the Malala episode 82% of the Pakistanis, and even more shockingly 78% of "SO-CALLED" educated Pakistanis OPPOSE military action against the Taliban.

Still, Pakistanis want their govt. to go after ONLY the Pakistani Taliban, and NOT the HAQQANI Network or the 1000 other strains who are being CULTIVATED BY THE PAKISTANI STATE TO CREATE TERROR AGAINST THE US, WEST & INDIA!

So, however hard Mr. Zakaria may try to PROJECT HIS CO-RELIGIONISTS, there is not the slightest chance Americans and his fellow Indians (I mean the KNOWLEDGEABLE ONES) will buy into his SUGARCOATED ISLAMIC SERMONS!

I wish CNN and other American media would have given same coverage to the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens but that news of attack on embassy with 4 killed Americans was kept in low light and was not given any weight age at all by the media.
Instead they kept and opened a whole column and section for this girl everyday since she was shot.
This girl case is no more than a PR job for Pakistani govt., ISI, Pakistani army and Pakistani people......
It is ironic and sad to see how the media can be biased and can give value to the articles which can give them mileage or political gains to their supported parties. Prima facie this all was done to take away the attention from administrations inability to handle and control the situation and the failure to protect US interests in Libya.

The Huk rebellion in the Philippines began to unwind when the huks lost popular support after the murder of the widow of the second President of the Philippines and several children by Huk rebels. Of course, there were other causes for the ultimate failure of the Huks, but this brutal crime cost the popular support critical to a successful guerrilla insurgency. One may hope that the crime committed against Pakistani women and children will detach the Taliban from whatever popular support they had before this awful event.

Pakistan turn against the Taliban? What a joke. The Taliban is part of the Pakistan government and the Pakistan government is part of the Taliban. Since the Taliban was created by the Pakistan government in order to have power in Afghanistan, the Taliban has been totally supported by the ISI, the Pakistan intelligence agency. This is such common knowledge that it accepted worldwide. So the Taliban decided to shoot a 14 year old girl in the head because she said something that angered the Taliban. Do you really believe that the Pakistan government gives a damn about the girl?

The Pakistan government is not really a government in the sense that American understand a government. It is just an extension of the Pakistan military and the military only cares about their own power. Read the book "Eating Grass
The Making of the Pakistani Bomb by Feroz Khan" where the father of the Pakistani nuclear bomb states that the people would eat grass if necessary in order to build a nuclear bomb. Nothing has changed in Pakistan.

Pakistan “RISING” has established itself as part of a very dynamic regional paradigm amalgamating it geographically with Central Asia, Middle East and Europe. While also situated at the gateway to the Arabian Gulf, Pakistan will also have access to the waters of the Caspian Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Arabian Sea, China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. This positions Pakistan at the crossroads to peace and prosperity in the world and economic well-being as well as military clout.

Seems like India is falling apart at the seams. First, hundreds of sick left burning in a hospital fire, then hundreds dead drinking some hindu moonshine concoction, followed by massive power blackouts, nuclear accident and now this. Poverty is rampant, societal values have collapsed; inflation is in the clouds while the rupee is in the toilet. This economic and political model has failed. The moment US pulls out of Afghanistan, it iwll be all over for India. No more handouts by American taxpayers.

In Pakistan, "thousands of demonstrators" is not something anyone would notice; it's common for tens of thousands of protestors to turn out over minor issues like an opposing city councilman running for election, or for hundreds of thousands to turn out over some imagined slight to Islam.

Time to face facts: the Taliban have regrouped and found a new, supportive home in Pakistan, and they're thriving there with the direct help of Pakistan's government. The US needs to immediately cut all foreign aid to the country. It would be a good idea, too, to gather intel on the whereabouts of Pakistan's handful of nuclear weapons so we can go in and confiscate them while demolishing whatever production facilities for more they have in operation. Time to stop mollycoddling this terrorist breeding cesspool.

The problem is for everyone that opposes such ideology there is one that does not, even if the Pakistani placed her under CPP, it was clear she would be targeted. A member of the CPP team would shot her, as happened with politicians. You have a minister calling on the Taliban to do an assassination over than movie, you have Imran Khan using the Taliban as issue, then you have the ISI use of ideology. Nothing will change. Just look in India and around it and you find poverty, extremism, joblessness, women beating, They are in the dark ages. Malala's innocence and intelligence is an exception and a breath of fresh air notwithstanding the tragedy she has gone through. Reading CNN, who could have thought such girls could even exist in Pakistan and be so educated and articulate !!!!! Now that we know how progressive Pakistan is and how open minded and freedom oriented their culture is, let us support them and make Pakistan a model of a nation it was several decades ago. Malala Yousufzai epitomizes the progressive culture, freedom of expression and respect for women that exists in Pakistan. The ordeal she has gone through deserves all our support for her. Her CNN interview was stunning and her clarity of thoughts, tolerance and innocence was a breath of fresh air coming from a fourteen year old. We were led to believe that Pakistan (like India) was decadent society. Seeing this interview led me to believe that Pakistan stands on the cusp of breaking away from the negative inertia of South Asian politics and being a leader nation in that neighborhood. In some Haryana villages in India, the young girls are routinely threatened, abused and killed all under Khap (tribe/clan) verdicts. It is acceptable for the families to feed pesticide pills to the teenage girls and then dispose off their bodies by burning them without any police records.

The problems that Pakistan is currently facing actually started around AD 700, when the Arab, Islamic invaders showed up, conquered the country's buddhists, and hindus, and subjugated them under Islamic law. It's been a violent, Islam infested s**thole ever since.

Islam has only been in existence 1500 years or so so it is not the reason for the lack of civility in Afghanistani or Pakistani
    lives.
The mind set was formed long before the religion existed.
    Why is that?
Did Islam create that mind set or did the mind set create Islam?

I don't know the answer but would like to.

Countless studies have shown that there is a higher incidence of incest and child molestation among southern, white evangelical families than in any other group that participated in the study. Experts are in agreement that this type of deviant behavior is generally a result of living in close quarters, such as trailer parks. Anyone requiring further proof only has to take a casual drive south of the Mason-Dixon line where you will encounter toothless inbreds wherever you travel. In fact, historians have long theorized that the reason the south lost the Civil War is because of the high number of mentally challenged soldiers in the army, a direct result of generations of inbreeding.

As one flushes through some of the acromonial comments posted herein, one sees frustrated Indian hindus (?) in wolf clothing (names!) making asinine one liners trying to put Pakistan in negative light. Is it obsession, or is it jealousy or is it pure boredom resulting from economic doom/poverty/bubble burst/joblessness prevalent in India? It probably is a combination of all of above.Needless to say that Indians, among others, should learn from the inspiration that Malala has generated and try to emulate her bravery, intelligence, innocence in standing up to overwhelming odds and speaking her mind up. This is what Pakistan stands for and Islam preaches. In America we call it freedom.

The Pakistani and American people and congress recognize the symbolism and good will that Malala has created and desire to recognize her with a medal besides all the support they can garner. Malala's legacy has just begun. It is singular people like Malala who stand up to and bring down terrorism, hate and malice and bring changes to the world for the good. To our Indian brethren we say seize the opportunity and learn from it and change for the better. It is never too late. Shed your fabric of hate and negativity and medievalism and inculcate in yourselves the very essence of Islam and other religions of god that Malala stands for. Adopt a posture of positivity and non interference with your neighbors. Move forward with this changing world and pull your people out of poverty and struggle for existence quagmire that your people are stuck in. Let us help you help yourself. For starters, let's start making some intelligent comments on these forums that pass the laugh test.

Good question. Perhaps you have an answer to the following:

The American invasion of Afghanistan brought to the forefront the irrelevance of India as a nation. With a population of over 1.2 billion people there was no value that this nation could bring to the table. Their soldiers (ragtag) 1.2 million continue hiding in the trenches scared from Talibans. A few teenage Talibans invaded the country and held it hostage for days on end showing how useless India is. It was embarrasing for the world to observe this humiliation of a nation that was being touted as a regional power.

THE ACTUAL QUESTION IS WHERE IS THIS COWARDLY ARMY HIDING SCARED FROM TALIBANS????? Hmmmmm.........................................

Malala is a symbol of freedom, bravery, outspokeness and beacon of light for all girls/women in this world. Singulalry, she stood up to terror and showed a reasoned mind seldom seen at her age. She is a product of a progressive society in Pakistan and reflective of the tolerant values that Islam stands for.

To her attackers and those who threaten her we say shame on you. What the world armies could not do to you a 14 year old girl took you down without firing a bullet. If you have any dignity left come into the folds of modern society. If you are being financed by foreign elements, return those monies and say NO, THANK YOU!
SHAME ON INDIA AND ITS BARBARIC AND MEDIEVAL CULTURE !!!

Look at all these Taliban sympathizers. Bringing up India again and again. What you Paki's don't get is that we don't really care about you at all. What we care about is that your government only controls about 60% of your country with the rest being controlled by bandits. While this seems like something out of the 1600s it is very much the case. If we didn't have to constantly step in for your military then we would leave you alone. This has nothing to do with India either, it is your boarder with Afghanistan that concerns us. We will continue to use drones in your sovereign territory until you stop messing around and actually secure your boarders.

New, More Dangerous Hindu Extremist Groups Emerge in India

Christians concerned as rightwing factions splinter to form militant outfits.
PUNE, India, October 29 (CDN) — After more than a decade of severe persecution, India’s Christian minority is growing increasingly concerned over the mushrooming of newer and deadlier Hindu extremist groups.

Gone are the days when Christians had to watch out only for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (World Hindu Council) and its youth wing, Bajrang Dal, which are closely linked with the most influential Hindu extremist umbrella organization, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). With voter support faltering for the RSS’s political wing, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), moderate and extremist sections within the Hindu nationalist movement are blaming each other, and militant splinter groups have emerged.

Claiming to be breakaway factions of the RSS, new groups with even more extreme ideology are surfacing. The Abhinav Bharat (Pride of India), the Rashtriya Jagran Manch (National Revival Forum), the Sri Ram Sene (Army of god Rama), the Hindu Dharam Sena (Army for Hindu Religion) and the Sanatan Sanstha (Eternal Organization) have launched numerous violent attacks on Christian and Muslim minorities.

Bizarre Health Rituals in India Show Dangerous Side of Tradition

In what has got to be on of the most vile and disturbing things ever put to print, a man in eastern India was arrested for his unconventional and downright insane method of curing the common cold in children.
50-year old Jamun Yadav, who considers himself to be a demigod of the Hindu faith, believes he can channel and transfer divine energy through his feet, which has lead to him standing on the necks and throats of young children suffering from your average run-of-the-mill cold.
When asked about them, the guru claimed that he was merely speaking for God, and as such needs no other defense.
It serves as a grim reminder of the dangerous religious traditions observed by many Hindus in India, many of which are done so for the health of their children. One such ritual involves throwing infants off of a fifty foot tower, a tradition thought to bring good health and luck to the child throughout his or her life.

"It is no secret that Hitler and his Nazi cronies sought inspiration from Indian extremist groups including the branding of his Nazi Party by adopting the Swastika, a traditionally Hindu symbol and representation of Hindu god Ganesha, as its marketing tool. The thesis being that like the Norwegian massacre the Jewish holocaust orchestrated by Hitler was inspired by the inherently violent cult of Indian Hindus and the manifesto of its then extremist/terrorist groups still in existence today. These groups are now the successors to and carrying out the vision of Al Qaeda all over the world albeit in a clandestine manner."
Let me quote another instance of this disgraceful disposition:
It is no secret that Mahatma Gandhi (Hindu leader) was a pedophile. What is very disturbing is his relationship (!) and friendship with Hitler. He is known to have offered advice and encouragement to Hitler and his Nazi Party to undertake the Jewish Holocaust."

Sometime back there was an interesting blog on India "The bubble of India has burst: Humpty Dumpty has Fallen”. We here in Haiti continue to monitor the political and cultural turmoil in India as a large percentage of our population are sugar cane slaves from India. As of now, we reiterate our view that Hindu State of India is in a precarious situation and that a geo-political implosion is imminent (if not already in process) and the need of the hour. As you will recall, India was initially broken into pieces by Arabs, Afghanis, Persians, Pakistanis, and lately by Chinese and so on. And rest assured that is not the end. India is mired in poverty and has a suppressive regime with respect to minorities. Substantial aid by the world over the years to India has failed to reverse the downward trends. We can now confirm that India has become unmanageable. If it is not imploded in a controlled manner we are afraid China will chew it up and spit it out. Therefore, we urge the UN general assembly to put this high on their agenda and vote “YES” to further breaking up India. We further propose the following areas be amalgamated with Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and China. In God We Trust.
    Kashmir
    Bihar
    Punjab
    Himachal Pradesh
    Uttar Pradesh
    West Bengal
    Uttarakhand
    Rajasthan

We wish our friends in India God Speed and may the courage of Maoists bless its soul.

The statistics reported in this article are shocking: "Girls fare especially badly in Pakistan. There are only 79 Pakistani schoolgirls for every 100 schoolboys. In South Asia that number is 95, and in the whole world it’s 97." I would never have guessed that the gender gap is so bad – and the girls have to put their life on the line just to reduce that gap a little.

Living in the shadows of Pakistan, defined by China, haunted by Kashmir and punctuated by Terror Organizations such as Shiv Sena, India is struggling to find a meaning for its existence (besides a call center) and a place in the new world order. In any religion, culture, or society women play an invaluable and integral role. Mr. Zakaria, I take offense to your statement, " women are often seen as stealth reformers of Islam." First of all, Islam does NOT need any reforming. When Islam is practiced correctly, women have been given many, many rights, such a right to be educated, work, establish businesses, participate in government. What needs reforming are these extremists that persecuting women in the name of religion. What needs reforming are the media establishments that should also report on the positive actions toward Muslim women. I salute Malala and her family for standing up for her right to an education. There are many Malala's in Pakistan and elsewhere. It is the ignorant men that need serious reforming, no matter their religion or culture. And they exist in every religion and culture!!! I am a proud Muslim-Pakistani-American. I know of and have seen and heard of many Pakistani women and men that are trying to reform the ignorant mindset towards women's rights to obtain an education and work. May I remind you, that is was not too long ago that some western societies denied women the right to vote, join the military, etc. I do not recall the history books referring to these restrictions as Christian based. These are the winds of change. Please be a positive force of change, by stating the facts and not perpetuating the same mindset that Islam discriminates towards women. IT DOES NOT. I am a living example.

Pakistan may not be a perfect country but against all odds it is striving to improve. What also needs reformation are the neighbors around it with barbaric cultures and value systems that continue to partake in financing of terror in the region, western countries that have created problems that continue to linger on like Kashmir/Palestine, an antiquated UN system that should be dismantled and replaced with a more democratic setupy, trigger happy world leaders that keep on invading countries and massacring millions of people and on and on. Pakistan is just a microcosm of what is happening in the world around it and the inability of its leaders and people who can't cope and manage these phenomenon. But as someone commented on this forum and I quote.....

"PAKISTAN.....The New Gateway to Central Asia and Europe.
With a population of over 180 million most of whom are well educated, English speaking, entrepreneurial and a cultural and social fit with Central Asians...Pakistan has now become the new face and gateway to Central Asia and Europe. Pakistan will thus span this region and provide the impetus for growth, prosperity and unity among these countries. These are new and exciting times for Pakistanis who should now look forward to their new leadership role aligned with Central Asia and Europe rather than the Subcontinent. We wish them much success as they have sacrificed the most during the past 30 + years creating a new world order."

We wish Pakistan and Pakistanis God Speed.
Let us not pull the rug from under them.

We continue to be of the opinion that India is a zero sum event in history and that a break up of sorts is the optimum way to maximize its potential for the people. The current events in India reinforce our belief that the inevitable implosion of India has begun and the beginning of the end state is upon us. Whether that will be nirvana that most of us believe it will, is yet to be seen. But this we will say. This defragmentation of India will unleash boundless opportunities and uber economic demand that will be beneficial to US and Europe and help pull them out of current recessionary malaise. INDIA: Between two Deities: KALI & PANCHALI

The problem with India is that is built on a system of cultural and societal values based on Hinduism which is a cult. Nations built on a cult seldom survive in the long run. Now just take a look at these two Hindu goddesses and the destruction and lack of morality they represent.

Goddess Kali's statue stands naked astride the inanimate body of the Hindu deity Shiva, tongue stuck out with blood dripping from fang-like teeth. She holds a noose, a skull-topped staff, a blood-encrusted sword and a severed head. Disgusting, to say the least. Would you want your kids growing up with such inspiration?

Meanwhile, goddess Panchali was married to five brothers. Which one would become the legitimate father of his child should she have one? Dr Charles (renowned author and an authority on India) says that instances of incest are common in Hindu scriptures. Decadent ! Immoral !

Talk about being between a b!tch and a tramp!!

But you guys don't seem to learn anything and continue to pour hatred towards other countries and other religions. This is what you call tolerance practiced by your religion. No wonder people like you make you think that your religion is one of the fastest growing religions, but forget the fact that you are also making them the most hated religion. Keep continuing hating every other person who does not belong to your religion and prove it that your religion does not have the tolerance.

Everything is relative. Here is one reason why. Hope this helps you.

For the same reason that US armed forces ran away from Afghanistan in the 1980s and let the talibans fight the Soviets and defeat them. For the same reason 1.2 million Indian army is hiding in trenches scared of talibans. Hope that puts in perspective the scenario for you.

If the Hindu man's wife dies, he is free to go and find another woman when he wants.

THE AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL REPORT ON "MEERUT" MASSACRE OF MUSLIMS IN INDIA
      Reuters:
"Amnesty International has concluded that there is strong evidence that members of India’s Provincial Armed Constabulary were responsible for the Muslim massacre (hundreds of thousands) and the deliberate killing of unarmed civilians during the riots and following days."
The report added that witnesses had charged PAC officers (all Brahmins and High caste Hindus) of herding Muslims into trucks and later shooting them dead (raping the Muslim ladies, in most cases). Their bodies were then tossed into canals and rivers.

Fareed, I watch GPS every Sunday and find the programmes very enlightening. keep up the good work. On Pakistan, I have frequently heard you express hope that sanity will prevail and extremism will be rejected. The problem with this conclusion is that the majority of Pakistanis, who are not extremists, do not have the courage to speak up for Malala. Additionally, the State uses extremism for its own use as an inexpensive way to export terror. Therefore, it is impossible to, on the one hand feeding extremists and at the same time, biting them! The solution is a whole sale transformation of the society by someone like Erdogan!

Sorry....We now need to focus on India.

I continue to read with interest the thesis presented on CNN that "less is more" in a political context as applied to India. I concur with this approach and find the premise to be on solid footing. Besides, Americans cannot afford to look like losers in the midst of a terror war which has lasted for over ten years now.

    • NO INDIA HINDUS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD PLEASE

The obsession with Pakistan by Indian hindus is hilarious !!!!On the average an Indian hindu has ONE B@LL !!!! Now let's look at the reality about Indian not cooked up zombie numbers that is nothing but cacophony.

INDIA:::: Some Alarming Statistics: (Source: UNDP)

      • 1/3rd world’s poor is in India. It also has a higher proportion of its population living on less than $ 2 per day than even sub-Saharan Africa.

      • 828 million people or 75.6% of the Indian population is living below $2 a day. 42% of the population is living below the new international poverty line.

      • 33% of the global poor are Indians. Sub-Saharan Africa considered the world’s poorest region is better than India.

      • 41.8% of the rural population survive with monthly per capita consumption expenditure of Rs447 ($7)on essential necessities like food, fuel, light and clothing.

Now, the problem with India is that it is built on a system of cultural and societal values based on Hinduism which is a cult. Nations built on a cult seldom survive in the long run. You can only take it so far based on symbolisms of a goat and a stick with a skinny little man aka gandhi banging boys at night and spinning wheels during daytime.

India has always lived in the shadow of Pakistan and has been forever defined by Pakistan.

India is pretty much done. The bubble has burst. India is sliding downhill at supersonic speed. GDP growth has disappeared...the only growth left is the hair between their legs. Inflation is in the clouds and India has asked Pakistan to help out. Pakistan has opened up Wagah Border to help Indians with food/goods etc. The Indian Rupee has collapsed against US $. US owns India financially now. As of last week the Indian bourse also collapsed.

We also remain extremely appalled and highly concerned about the continued medieval cultural and barbaric social practices prevalent in the name of Hinduism in India.

I fail to comprehend who exactly is the enemy within. There are internal issues, but there are many external issues influenced from western countries. There is another perspective to acknowledge. Many of the people in Pakistan live in poverty, how do you expect them to rise and start engaging in battle against the Taliban. Protests will only bring trivial change. Unfortunately the mass is not educated enough to put one of intelligence in power.

People stop their cars, sit for hours waiting for a cow to clear the roadway, thinking it to be sacred.

Because the mainstream Hindus, with the aid of the more militant pan-Hindus, have done a great job at insulating their faith from the same winds of change that brought forth radical revisions in nearly every other world religion. The real question is why don't the lower castes take some initiative and do whatever necessary to improve their own situation?

I continue to read with interest the thesis presented on CNN that India is “Too Big To Succeed” in a socio-politico context. Although experts use this in an economic sense, its geo-political connotations are indeed powerful. Empowering subjugated minorities in India by splitting it into smaller states would trigger uber economic demand for western nations who have given so much financial and technology aid to India with no return to show for the investment. I concur with this approach and find the premise to be on solid footing. Central Asian States (CAS) are a case in point on this successful approach. We need to understand that India has an unmanageable large population mired in poverty and we are spinning our wheels trying to feed it. It is also too big of a geographical unit to govern and for democracy to take traction.

Every one knows the character of Fareed Zakria. Plagiarism is one and being an Indian tout, he is always chasing Pakistan and never talked bad about his own country India . The hunger and miserable condition of Indian people never discussed by him. I was in India and shocked to see how vast is the difference between poor and rich. More over India is the only country in South Asia who had problems with all its neighbors. Staring from Pakistan, China, Sirilanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhotan, which country did not have regional (including wars) and Geo political issues with India. Pakistan is mostly a corrupt country and its current leaders( Mullas and politicians) just want to have fill their pockets. We can' t blame every thing on Pakistan, It is an open secret that who sponsored all these Jihadi networks in Pak Afghan areas starting in early 80's and when the desired results were furnished Pakistan was left behind to deal with the Afghan mess. It is easy to criticize but we all need to read history before pointing finger towards Pakistan for the problems in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Pakistan keep sending terrorists into India and you say India should not have problems with Pakistan. Pakistan started all wars against India and still India should not have problems with Pakistan. Bangladesh people infiltrate into India either for some terrorism or illegal entry and India should not have problems with Bangladesh. China has border issues with India. China occupied India's land in 1962 and you say India should not problems with China. I can discuss about other countries. There is no smoke without fire. If Pakistan is stable and does not interfere with India, India does not have any business with Pakistan. Instead of throwing blame on every other thing, introspect and worry about your own country

We now need to focus on India.

Mr. Casper Mauritius and Maldives are also in the list of neighboring countries where Indian interference is highly objectionable. Being from Maldives I know how much Indians are interfering in our internal matters. Mr. Zaqkria would you like to put some light on Indian role in its neighboring countries including Afghanistan which even don't have border with India.

In repsonse to those Indians who hide behind secular names, let me say this. How can it stand up? Certainly not on its feet .....perhaps on its knees to seek redemption for double crossing USA in Afghanistan and Iran.

“I see skies of blue..... clouds of white
    Bright blessed days....dark sacred nights
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.

But when I look to the east or west… I see Indian Hindus and a medieval cultural sight
And in the neighborhood… doom and blight
And I say to myself what a miserable world….
But what a wonderful world it could be if India was sliced, diced and whirled.
And I say to myself indeed that would be a wonderful world… what a wonderful world !”

India is a bully and a bad influence in the region. It cannot lead. Need to cut it up into smaller pieces. That is the only way to peace in the region and the world. That is my honest assessment and I have lived and travelled in the region extensively since WW2.

Malala is no reformer nor is she an activist. Her father has put her up to it all and should be ashamed as well as charged with child endangerment. If he wants to play activist, go ahead, but he should leave Malala out of it. Don't hide behind her innocence. You only get one chance at a childhood and her father has effectively ripped that away from her. He lamented that she almost died. Well now she's brain damaged and he wants to continue the abuse or have her eventually killed by taking her back to Pakistan? He really is no better than the Taliban – he is doing the same thing, recruiting others for his dirty work. He needs to step up to the plate and be a REAL dad and start protecting her instead of placing her in harm's way.

Ram,,,Ram...Ram...Child such things can only happen in Bharat aka India. Now listen to this.

In Devadasi system in India young girls are sold to s@x slavery to older rich men when they are infants

Also, in some Haryana villages in India, the young girls are routinely threatened, abused and killed all under Khap (tribe/clan) verdicts. It is acceptable for the families to feed pesticide pills to the teenage girls and then dispose off their bodies by burning them without any police records.
