The rapid rise of the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Egypt after the deposing of Hosni Mubarak last year prompted many observers to see an Islamist Egypt as inevitable. After all, the Muslim Brotherhood was the best organized and most popular political party in Egypt, the opposition was divided, there was little Western support for the secular opposition and the United States welcomed Muslim Brotherhood delegations to meet White House officials. Most recently, it worked openly with President Mohamed Morsy to achieve a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict. All this seemed to many to be a rough replay of the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
Yet, as the mass demonstrations against the Muslim Brotherhood recently in Tahrir Square and across Egypt have shown, an Islamic Egypt, while still likely, is far from inevitable.
Successful revolutions are usually led by charismatic leaders with strong political intuition – think Mao, Lenin, Tito, Castro and Ayatollah Khomeini. All personified their revolutions and drove the masses on to victory. But Morsy is no Ayatollah Khomeini, who embodied revolutionary mysticism and spent a lifetime steeped in political thought. The reality is that Morsy lacks charisma, and spent his life gaining a PhD and chairing an Egyptian engineering school until 2010. His abrupt and radical moves belie a lack of political savoir faire.
Morsy and the Brotherhood also lack the great wealth in oil and gas revenues (and do not have the option of expropriating the great wealth of the Shah) that gave the Ayatollah financial leverage in Iran. Egypt is a poor country, whose GDP per capita is only about $6,500 per year, according to the most recent IMF figures.
More from CNN: Morsy miscalculating rage
Equally important is the lack of any Great Satan (Khomeini’s name for the United States) and Little Satan (his term for Israel) against which the Ayatollah roused the Iranian masses. Instead, Morsy, through his negotiations with, and accepting money from, the United States, looks if anything more like an ally of the Great Satan. He also lacks a war with an external enemy such as Iran faced with Iraq in the 1980s, around which Khomeini could rally the Iranian population.
The Shiites in Iran, after a lengthy period of perceived persecution, also rallied around the idea of a revolutionary Iran restoring them to their “proper” role in a Sunni dominated region. This appeal was reinforced by the frequent and powerful interference by the U.K., the United States and Russia in their internal affairs. Egypt lacks such a history. And, to boot, has 8 million Coptic Christians, many of whom oppose the Brotherhood.
More from GPS: Egypt's deeply flawed constitution
The Muslim Brotherhood also faces a significantly stronger regime than post-Shah Iran – there’s a million -security force, multi-million man bureaucracy, independent courts and media. Meanwhile, unlike Iran, Egypt lacks the resources to provide serious help to the impoverished masses.
And finally, having seen what happened in Islamic revolutions in Iran (1979), Afghanistan (1996) and Gaza (2006), its secular opponents are far more likely to come out and fight for their interests.
The flight of Morsy from his presidential palace on Tuesday, and the massive number of demonstrators in front of the palace and elsewhere, does not augur well for the president, and the Muslim Brotherhood faces either a protracted battle for consolidation of its power or the possibility of ultimately being ousted from power. Either way an Islamic Egypt does not look quite so inevitable anymore.

all revolutions are unpredictable and egypt is no exception
The situation in Egypt is indeed unpredictable. The military might emerge as winner from the dispute. The commander of the Republican Guard said that the security forces would not be a tool to crush protesters: "No force will be used against Egyptians." We might see skirmishes between Morsi's supporters and protesters. When they spiral out of control, the military usurp power!
That is a very real threat to the revolution. So far the military has been very quiet. Too quiet. And when you realize the immense economic power base they control, my guess it is only a matter of time before they intervene. That is if the opposition and Morsi do not come to some kind of terms.
Which might come either naturally or intentionally if Morsy got into deep trouble.
Eqypt is going to be the next Iran. Islam is taking over the World, exactly as Muhammed planned
where did you get your information about mohamed planned this? Please research before you post and its not mohamed its the prophet mohamed peace be upon him and all the prophets
Patrick gets information from tabloids ....right patrick? LOL
Whoa ! don't blow ol' Mohammed out of proportion. He worked on conquering his little neighbourhood not the whole world.
Concern Muslim...........Many passages in Islamic sacred texts, ahadith and credible Islamic historical lite sources do indeed support the notion of the "supremacism" of Islam. Here is just a small sampling to refresh your memory....
Qur'an:2:216 "Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims), though you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and like a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not." [Another translation reads:] "Warfare is ordained for you."
Qur'an:4:95 "Not equal are those believers who sit at home and receive no injurious hurt, and those who strive hard, fighting Jihad in Allah's Cause with their wealth and lives. Allah has granted a rank higher to those who strive hard, fighting Jihad with their wealth and bodies to those who sit (at home). Unto each has Allah promised good, but He prefers Jihadists who strive hard and fight above those who sit home. He has distinguished his fighters with a huge reward."
Bukhari:V4B52N44 "A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, 'Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad in reward.' He replied, 'I do not find such a deed.'"
Bukhari:V1B2N25 "Allah's Apostle was asked, 'What is the best deed?' He replied, 'To believe in Allah and His Apostle Muhammad.' The questioner then asked, 'What is the next best in goodness?' He replied, 'To participate in Jihad, religious fighting in Allah's Cause.'"
Qur'an:33:22 "Among the Believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah and have gone out for Jihad (holy fighting). Some have completed their vow to extreme and have been martyred fighting and dying in His Cause, and some are waiting, prepared for death in battle."
Bukhari:V4B53N412 "Allah's Apostle said on the day of the conquest of Mecca, 'There is no migration now, only Jihad, holy battle. And when you are called for Jihad, you should come out at once.'"
Bukhari:V4B52N311 "Allah's Apostle said, 'There is no migration after the Conquest of Mecca, but only Jihad. When you are called by the Muslim ruler for Jihad fighting, you should go forth immediately, responding to the call.'"
Muslim:C28B20N4631 "I heard Muhammad say: 'I would not stay behind when a raid for Jihad was being mobilized unless it was going to be too hard on the believers. I love that I should be killed in Allah's Cause; then I should be brought back to life and be killed again.'"
Qur'an:9:111 "Allah has purchased the believers, their lives and their goods. For them (in return) is the Garden (of Paradise). They fight in Allah's Cause, and they slay and are slain; they kill and are killed."
Bukhari:V4B52N196 "Allah's Apostle said, 'I have been ordered to fight with the people till they say,"None has the right to be worshipped but Allah".
I am not sure about that. But in the Philippines that is overwhelming Christian, Christians can unite over common religious lines, but when it comes to politics none will trust the other.
Even the Roman Catholics the biggest block will never be able to make a President.
I am not a muslim and I haven't read the koran but I do know that religious writings have many inner meanings and are layered with many truths. I know that the environment that the Prophet was teaching was violent so wondering if this is taken out of context and if it is being understood only literally? I make a point of respecting every Prophet of God btw, this is a safe bet I think.
@Concern muslim: typical Muslim, telling others on how to call MoonHamMad.
You call Jesus Prophet. Thats your belief we dont tell you what to call him.
The Bible says that the MoonHamMad is a false prophet. He was a violent pedo .
ISLAM WILL RULE THE WORLD AFTER WORLD WAR 3
The only thing that is predictable is that when it is all said and done, there will be no benefit for the U.S.
And Morsi will find the external enemy to divert the Egyptian attention from home problems. Hint – it's always the Jews.
Actually 'Revolutions' are highly predictable. They almost always result in tyranny and despotism.
No laws against the people is as effective as laws to protect the people in a very predictable future.
IS IT UNPREDICTABLE?When you study the history of the Muslim Brotherhood you find it was a British creation, and is still funded by the west.Odd,isn't it?Isn't it also odd that when the previous Egyptian president was being taken down, the top Egyptian military generals were safely in Washington DC,safe from the upheavel. Is it really that unpredictable.Odd,yes.Unpredictable,no.Not if you look into whats really going on.
On one hand,we have the west supposively promoting democracy in the Middle East.On the other hand, you have this.Seemingly two different agendas. One agenda seems to be the one the media and politicians are pushing off on us.The other is one that can only be found by digging into history and certain websites that will soon be deemed illegal.
With all this in mind regarding Egypt,it really makes one question what has happened in Libya and other country's that the supposed Arab Spring has affected(including Syria). Some believe the Arab Spring is simply a continuation of what the US did in Iran to give power to the Ayatollah's.Question what doesn't seem right.Don't just accept things as they are given-you may be wiser for it.
I come from Iran and I am very much familiar with the islamization process of a country. The point you are missing in your analysis is the creativity of these people. It is true that they are not in the same situation as Iranians were (whether there was war or not, or whether there was Khomeini or not) however, the matter is these are very smart Islamist, who can overcome their problems as they have been successful so far.
Yes. Islam has a way of brainwashing people. Hahahahahah
Correction ..... You mean religion.... look alike you are not well travelled sir.
Proof is in the news. Constantly!!!!!!!!!! Hahahahahahahahaha
Your tu quoque argument is irrelevant. The subject at hand is Egypt, and there is not an organization there called the "Lutheran Brotherhood."
He happens to be right...well travelled or not ya Maya
Yes, religion. But Islam brainwashes them to insist you adhere by their rules and to oppress and kill those who will not.
It's the Best religion.
Best at oppression and intolerance.
Totally agree... Islam is the real culprit in this and ALL mid-eastern unrest. Its a violent religion with a deeply flawed prophet who they all try to emulate. Reading kuran and following a wrong ideal makes them violent.
So yea Christianity (my religion, or not depending if you ask Bill O'Reilly) has never followed the wrong ideal in the name of a fundamentalist lunatic? Oh the Crusades you say...wait, the Crusades shows no hostility whatsoever, right? I mean, Christians were just trying to take back what was originally the Jews...or err Arabs... err, whatever....
There was only faithfully following the dictates of their religion as set down by the leaders of their sect of the Christian religion. This sound familiar? (Like maybe the Middle East today).
The Crusades were defensive to protect Christians from belligerent Muslims, learn some history you idiot!
ID_Neon, people who point fingers calling others idiots are pointing 3 fingers at themselves. The crusades are not without controversy, and were not entirely defensive. Read your history further, and maybe also study other perspectives, not only the Christian perspective, and it will leave you wondering. One thing I'm certain of, God did not choose only Christians, or only Muslims to be the favored ones. Try to understand what other people are saying.
i am from egypt and i am normal musilm i want to replay that we are not different from americans we wear like them eat like them we are the same and if we are different we would not live with chraistines over hundred years we are peace but now is happing in egypt is bad i am against morsey not only me but million of people in egypt
Whoops looks like the author is wrong. Morsi just told them to pound sand.
The author could not be more Correct!!!!!
Egypt is an Islamic country, no doubt about that. But it is also a country with a great secular past and a large part of its population make a distinction between religion and civil life. Secularists will never eradicate Islam neither is it their goal because they are muslims. Islamists will never be able to eradicate secularism even if it is their "secret" goal. Copts are also a large minority. For centuries they have learned to live alongside Islam albeit lately this coexistence has been under severe stress. women and many of them well educated are also a force to be reckoned with. Egypt can only be ruled by consensus between the various parts of its society. That is why Egypt will never be an Islamist country...
At last I hear the sounds of reason.
I completely agree...I have said this before and will say it again. Egypt is the oldest civilization in the world, having stood tall and strong for almost 7,000 years. Why are people assuming that these 2 years are going to change Egypt forever? If it is still standing today, it will remain standing until the end of time!
The only connection Egypt has to the great civilization of antiquity is it's location. It has been invaded, colonized and had it's entire cultural composition completely changed repeatedly. I don't see any reason to suggest that it couldn't be changed yet again.
When the Arabs invaded Egypt 15 centuries ago, they made every efforts to change it's ID. They succeded in many ways by converting the Egyptians to their bedouen religion, enforce their language and did their best to change Egyptian ethnicity into Arabic. Egypt never knew any kind of success on any level eversince, till the modern time when the Westerners came thru Napoleon expedition to change Egypt into a modern one!!!
Egypt STOOD tall and strong....until Islam and the Arab occupation 1300 years ago destroyed it
The Egypt of antiquity has nothing to do with the Egypt of today. All that was lost when the Arabs invaded.
The people who built the pyramids are not the same fanatical people of today, the most sterling examples being Ayman al-Zawahiri and Abu Ayyub al-Masri,
If anything, the Coptic Christians are the true descendants of the ancient Egyptian heritage.
"secret" goal? It's pretty much printed in black & white in the 3rd most published book in existence.
The same thing was said about Iran.
Just like Iran in 1978, I'm afraid.
There is no secularity in Islam. Want Proof ? Read their holy book 'kuran' and read about their prophet's life... its as violent and trecherous as it can get.
Hefni, your argument starts with 'Egypt is an Islamic country' and end with 'That is why Egypt will never be an Islamist country'
what is the difference between Islamic and Islamist ?
The problem is that most secular and forward looking muslims do not acknowlwdge that Islam is the root problem, that is why they play with words like that....
As long as you keep calling yourself 'muslim' and keep going to the mosque and keep reading that book, nothing will change.
Islam is two faced – outer face is nice, devotional and peaceful, but it has a sinister inner face which is violent, and oppressive. This two facedness is the real cunning of Islam, which gets it into the door and when etablished, it takes over and shows its 'Sharia' face.
That is why Islam per se has to be eliminated. You cannot continue to be muslim and oppose Sharia, violence and oppression. They both go hand in hand. You have to cut yourself from Islam altogether.
Egypt is an Islamic country means that the majority of its people are Muslims and never means to be a theocratic regime! The secular mind of the Egyptian people reject the idea of Islamist. It will never be because Egypt is so distinct from other Muslim countries.
Distinct? Yeah right. Saudis and Yemenis aside, Egyptians are some of the most prolific members of terrorists groups like Al Qaeda.
Forgive me if I can't transmit my derisive snort across the Internet.
I pray that those who oppose the Muslim Brotherhood will prevail. If a Taliban mentality takes over this wonderful land so rich in history and beautiful will they destroy Egypt's treasures like what happened in Afghanistan? The world would and will be a sadder place if that happens.
I feel we all need to as much as we can support those who oppose the Muslim Brotherhood not because of their religion but because of their need of absolute control of people’s lives and intolerance that it breeds. Freedom is not just a word but a need in each of us. Of course there are those who narcissisms can not allow others to have any freedom that could mean a lost of power and control. Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Joseph Stalin just to name a few. The history of religion is crammed full of these typo of men/women.
Pray that "HATE WILL NOT WIN THIS TIME".
WELL SAID! Thank you!
It already has, thanks in large part to a delusional U.S. government.
This author is immagening things. Egypt will definitly be a radical islamic state.
This President is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood but was still elected by the foolish Egyption people. Now they dont like him. This is just another glaring example of why Muslim countries are culturally incapable of self government.
This is what was predicted, by some, long ago. But many did not want to believe it would happen. But it may. Then look for any women's rights to be taken away. THIS is what happens, in any country, when Islam rules. Google 'takeover of America' + Muslim and read the articles on how they plan to do this in the U.S. Get the movie The Third Jihad and hear THEM say what they plan to do. Believe them. When you hear it from them, in their own words, you should believe them. I do.
Jack 3:
If that happens then war major war is almost inventible. To allow the trade passing through the Suez Canal to stop or be severely taxed is something the west "This time Europe" can not allow. The leadership of Egypt dose not have the oil card to play but the Suez Canal card is huge.
Islam lives by the sword and will die by the sword !
If thats what you want to believe.
Sherri:
Anytime a group of religious men need to have absolute control over lives, women and children are the first to lose their humanity.
In China today baby girls are drowned so the family can have that one son. Now there are not enough wives to marry.
Just read the history of both east and west.
China is controlled by religious men? Seriously?
China is controlled by atheist men.
To all you whom thinks Islam is the problem please get a translated copy of Quran and start reading, You will find the message of peace it stat with "in the Name of Allah most gracious most merciful"
All we have to do is watch the news!!!!! It proves you are WRONG!!!!!!!! Hahahahahahahaha
I must have a bad translation of the Qur'an, ahadith and other credible Islamic historical sources. The translation is approved by Al-Azhar University, Cairo. Where did I go wrong?
Bukhari:V9B84N59 "Allah's Apostle said, 'I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah." Whoever says this will save his property and his life from me.'"
Qur'an 8:58 "If you apprehend treachery from any group on the part of a people (with whom you have a treaty), retaliate by breaking off (relations) with them. The infidels should not think they can bypass (Islamic law or the punishment of Allah). Surely they cannot escape."
Tabari VII:86 "Gabriel brought down the following verse to the Messenger: 'If you apprehend treachery from any people (with whom you have a treaty), retaliate by breaking off (relations).' When Gabriel had finished delivering this verse, the Prophet said, 'I fear the Banu Qaynuqa.' It was on the basis of this verse that Muhammad advanced upon them."
Tabari VII:158 "Judayy went to Abd Allah Ibn Ubayy to ask for support. He said, 'I found him sitting among a number of his companions while the Prophet's crier was calling men to arms. He said, 'This is a clever trick of Muhammad's.' The Messenger of Allah besieged the Nadir Jews for fifteen days. In the end they made peace with him on the condition that the Prophet would not kill them and that their property and their coats of mail would be his."
Tabari VII:159 "The Messenger of Allah besieged the Nadir for fifteen days until he had reduced them to a state of utter exhaustion, so that they would give him what he wanted. The terms in which the Prophet made peace with the Jews were: he would not shed their blood, he would expel them from their lands and settlements, providing for every three of them a camel and a water-skin."
Tabari VII:159 "The Prophet fought them until he made peace with them on condition that they evacuated Yathrib. He expelled them to Syria but allowed them to keep what their camels could carry, except for their coats of mail and weapons."
Qur'an 47:33 "Believers, obey Allah, and obey the Messenger. Do not falter; become faint-hearted, or weak-kneed, crying for peace."
Qur'an 9:3 "Allah is not bound by any contract or treaty with non-Muslims, nor is His Apostle."
Qur'an 97:5 "There is peace until the dawning of the day!"
Can you tell us the context? Of course not because then you would look like a fool.
But I thought an Islamic Egypt is good right?
Google, "Islam, Tolerance, and Globalization: What Study Abroad Research Can Tell Us About the Future of the Middle East"
Mosy is not done yet he will be back!
Why isn't CNN reporting the 1 billion dollar "foreign aid" to Egypt involving 20 F-16's? Sounds like treason to me.
Islam most gracious? Is that why the religious fanatics kill dogs in the name of Muslim God (did anybody see God?).
Do they bleed themselv with beeting on holidays to represent islam? Do muslims prey for elimination of infidels?
Do they propogate intolerance to other religions? Is Hamas not reprenting muslimhood? Hisbola? What about muslim women treated like slaves? All relisions are about supressing women...But muslims are the most supressive.
Iran was an outstanding in historical achievements. But ever since the muslim religion took hold of them...their woman turned into hosts wearing black coveres. Would anybody ever believe hat Iran would turn into Muslim-in-the-govement-type-of-country? it is like jumping into the dark ages. They cut people hands in the name of God, kill dogs, bleed themselfs, mutilate woman organs, They imprion and stone to death women suspected of infedelity. Al-quida, Taliban, shooting Malala for wantign to studdy. Underage girls are married off, harrems are the norm. Egipt still has a huge numebr of people unable to read and write. And it Egipt that used to promote education a thousand ears ago...it is going backward ever since Muslim religion was ovetaken by redicals all over the world
If the Coptic Christians are smart, keep their mouth shut. They are lucky so far.
I suggest you educate yourself a little bit. Stop being a SHEEP!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Copts
There should be a massive population exchange of Copts to Europe in return for all the Muslims of Europe moving to Egypt. Something like the Greek – Turkish population transfer after the Ottoman Empire collapsed.
Now that would be a mutually beneficial swap innit? The Copts can enjoy peaceful lives in Europe, working hard and improving their lives, careers etc. While in the Middle East the Muslims can...erm...continue to do whatever it is that Muslims do.
we here in the west ONLY see or are shown tahrir square...but that is just a fraction of egyptian society...most support the brotherhood and the islamists.
cnn is just incredibly inadequate in its reporting....
Concern Muslim....... Allah and his Prophet preached "jihad" against non-believers until they submit to no God but Allah. Just a few passages to refresh your memory...
Qur'an:2:216 "Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims), though you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and like a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not." At the time of the prophet Mohammad (pbuh), jihad is understood to mean struggle in the sake of Allah. This could be the lesser jihad which is "jihad of the sword". The greater jihad is the struggle within. As far as jihad of the sword, it only allowed in defense of the religion, muslims, and their stuff. This is why extremist claim that the West is at war with Islam (that they are bent on ridding the world of muslims); its how they justify jihad for otherwise their actions would amount to impermissible aggression. As far as imperialistic jihad; it wasnt ever done until the second or third khalif (Umar or Othman I dont remember).
It is just an invitation to know Islam from the sources with an open mind away from the influences of media. We are all searching for the truth; we search for meaning in our lives, and wonder what life is all about.
The claim Egypt has no oil wealth is wrong. I used to have stock in Apache Oil, a major driller/producer, whose shares have dropped from $110 to $75 partly because of the uncertainty in Egypt and the fact Apache has a LOT of oil and gas wells in Egypt.
Islam lives and will die by the sword. You suckers can try to convince us that your religion is of peace, but America will not be fooled. France and Europe know it too, but your plague is upon them. Come into my backyard though, and be prepared to meet CHRISTIAN force. AK47 style! Keep your filth in your own part of the planet. We don't need a translated copy of your Koran, we already know its all about "Jihad". Uzi...9mm 4 U.
Very Christ-like.
I agree! Merry CHRISTmas!
I don't really care what religion "takes over the world", I just find it amusing that "liberals" and feminists who support Islam will be oppressed far more than white men or Christians have ever "oppressed" them. Now I can kind of understand anger from the black side because of slavery but white leftists? Ha, you have something else coming with Islam. In fact, I consider left wingers more of a enemy that fundamental Islam and hope I live to see the day when Islam truly does take over, which is inevitable in Europe at least. When it's too late and you white feminists and other left wingers come running back to the white man to save you, I promise you, you will get nothing but a silent smirk. I hope I live to see that day.
There wouldn't be any "white men" around by the time that happens. "White people" simply aren't reproducing.
When Islam takes over the world, and left wingers realize what they have done in supporting Islam, I will be laughing and laughing and laughing with glee. Liberalism is a fad, that will be swept aside by people who will simply kill you when you speak out and think nothing of it. Islam is the religion to do that.. Go Islam!
Once again Zakaria shows his utter delusion with the way things are. Funny is that he and his ilk are exactly the same people who spent 8 years screaming that the Bush admin was patently insane for believing the Taliban would do precisely what they're suggesting will happen in Egypt.
GPS.......CNN's daily blog for Islamist apologists.
When Churchill examined mohhamedism in 1890s egypt, he saw little value in their society. Today, nothing has changed. Egypt will soon have 1/2 the population of the USA and a derelict economy. With the people breeding like flies there is no way any political party is going to sustain a stable government there, unless its a dictatorship. Talk of democracy, or republics is a farce.
I can't believe how biased CNN is regarding this case. The Muslim Brotherhood is the worst news in Egyptian history. And the Egyptians realised this. We do not want to turn our home to a new Afghanistan or Iran.
Why is CNN rooting for the Muslim Brotherhood? Why is Obama supporting them? Look at what BBC says about this story. There is a BIG gap.
Cut this dirty game. We do not want the Brotherhood, we do not want Morsy, and we most definitly want Sinai!!!!!!!!! It belongs to Egypt. It will never belong to Palestine!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny thing about all of this.....look up the history of the Muslim Brotherhood. It was created by the British, funded by the West.Odd,eh?Why would a western backed Islamic group want to Islamize Egypt?Could it be that the intentions of western governments(including the USA)are not as they seem? Are their hidden agendas going on we don't know about? It seems apparent, doesn't it?oNE SECOND,THE us IS AGAINST iSLAMIC terrorism and extremism, all about protecting Israel and ushering in democracy to the Middle East, and the next they are helping Islamic regimes into power. In fact,we are the ones who helped overthrow the Shah and help Ayatollah's gain power in Iran, contrary to what some history sources tell us.What is the US gov't up to anyway?WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON?
Similar agenda to China and Iran propping up North Korea? Shiite Iran is to Sunni Egypt as NK is to U.S. ?
Correction: Sunni Egypt is to Shiite Iran as NK is to U.S. ?
The initial evaluations/personality of a new leader cannot rule out much. The fact that he got a PhD and lacks charisma mean little in terms of how he'll respond to pressure. See Bashar al-Assad.
Moslem brothers hood are linked to hamass linked to Quaida, its important to understand this... islam is not against slavery, islam is slavery, women and child abuse, and much worse. Human rights is so great but should be used in a way not to let Arabs miss use it against others.
I love how he mentions that Copts oppose the Brotherhood as if it makes any kind of difference. Coptic Christians' lives have already been threatened over and over again, and it is not rare for mass murders of Coptic Christians to happen. To me, that's the beginning of a genocide, so the Coptic opposition means nothing at all. Egypt simply wasn't ready for a democracy because every political leader in Egypt has some sort of religious agenda and because the simple statute of equality of all humans that we have here in America simply does not exist there, and hopefully this is becoming quite clear to the rest of the world.
Copts please save yourselves and move to Europe or America! I guarantee you will be greatly welcome. We love hardworking, industrious and peaceful people. Contrary to popular opinion, we don't hate immigrants. We just don't like those that publicly proclaim that their religion will take over our continent in a few decades.
I'm also feel sorry for you Copts that your plight has attracted so little attention in the West. Well, that's because you're a Christian group, and well, Christianity is not "cool" in the West. In general, most people in the West view Christianity as how one would feel if he had a father who is a convicted rapist: you know he's around, you know he's your father, but you're sure as hell embarrassed to be associated with him.
GO to theptophetofdoom.com and learn the truth about islam.
prophet i meant
The people wanting change and freedom are not terrorists. However, there are terrorist groups among them. When the power vacuum is created, those groups that are willing to go to the most violent means possible will ultimately achieve power. You can spin it anyway you like, but that is the cold, hard reality of the situation in both Egypt and throughout the Middle East.
And if the President has a lick of sense (which I doubt), he will not transfer another 20 F-16's to Egypt. Such a move is illogical and not in the best interest of the United States.

There can and will be no peace in thw world as long as we allow Extremists to operate UN-restrained - BOTH Religious AND Economic Extremists !
This applies to UNRESTRAINED Religions : Christianity, Islam and all other organized religions, AND to UNRESTRAINED Economic Philosophies : Communism and Capitalism. . Each and every one is wholly evil from its very deepest foundations, for their common goal is to utterly repress the individual and to "keep him in line" and under their control ! ! !

To all of you!
December 21st is coming so why worry!!!!!
If the Mayans are right then its time to bend over, kiss you’re ***, will you know good bye.
Food for thought:
What is the difference between? Communism, Capitalism, Christianity, Judaism, Socialism, Atheism, Islamism, Liberalism and Conservatism and any other ism you can think of.
NOTHING: In the HEART and MIND of the TRUE BELIVER in each case.
In the mind of the TRUE BELIVER they are the only good and true, and all else is blasphemy.
