Rouhani: We have 'historic opportunity' on nuclear negotiations

Fareed speaks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani about the ongoing nuclear negotiations. Watch the full interview on "Fareed Zakaria GPS," this Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on CNN.

In his speech today, President Obama had a direct message to Iran. He said don’t let this moment pass. We can reach a solution. Is he right? Is the United States negotiating in good faith?

Well you see today, we are faced with a very good opportunity vis-à-vis the nuclear talks and negotiations. This good opportunity was created in reality only last year in result of the expression of the political will of the majority of the people of Iran and their vast participation in those elections and the mandates received out of those elections. A new atmosphere was created as a result of all of that. We must all make good use of it – our side as well as the five plus one. Everyone together must make good use of this historic opportunity…

…Mr. President, on the basis of my reporting, my understanding is that Iran has offered to go down to 9,400 centrifuges, the United States wants you to go to 1,500 centrifuges. Why don’t we split the difference? 5,500? Are you willing? Shall we announce to the world that that is the midpoint?

Well we have a saying in Farsi, “In the middle of the conflict, do not start setting rates.”

A growing number of us are convinced that Sarah Palin is the only one who can heal and re-unify our country. But first she must return to her motorhome and resume her cross country tour. She will have to visit cities both large and small, being careful to speak only to real Americans, dispensing her sage advice and folksy, homespun common sense solutions. We can be a great nation again if we all follow the "Palin Path".

President Obama is sending a women's badminton team to Iran this week. It's less expensive than soldiers, and more offensive to the Iranian government.

A senior Iranian cleric says women who wear immodest clothing and behave promiscuously are to blame for earthquakes. In related news, President Obama will be dispatching Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Pamela Anderson to Iran to destroy its nuclear facilities.

What a mess... On one side, we have the US, NATO Allies, Sunni Arab States & Free Syrian Army. On the other, we have Iran, Russia & Assad. Then you have the various terrorist organizations such as ISIS, al-Nusra, Fatah al-Islam, Jund al-Sham, Hezbollah, PKK, Abdullah Azzam Brigade etc. Everyone is after their own interest. In the end, innocent civilians pay the price and there's no solution in sight. This will only get worse.

Ferhat dont feel yourself surrounded by enemy. Turkey is a strong country and need to cooperate with Russia and Iran to survive in this bloody middle East. Situations force Turkey do something but we have to be patient and wait till the right time comes. Dont estimate EU as a power they are nothing but a group of small countries. France and Germany govern these countries unde the name of EU. They will collapse in ten years time. The English is intelligent they kept their curency. If Russia and Turkey cooperates they could change the World order. The World can be more peaceful.

This appears to be great news, only if the West would meet the Iranians half way.
