Sony Entertainment CEO: We have not caved

Fareed speaks with Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton about the controversy over the movie 'The Interview'. Watch the full discussion tonight on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 at 8 p.m. or Sunday on GPS, at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.

The President says Sony made a mistake in pulling the film. Did you make a mistake?

No. I think actually the unfortunate part is, in this instance, the President, the press, and the public are mistaken as to what actually happened. We do not own movie theaters. We can’t determine whether or not a movie will be played in movie theaters.

So, to sort of rehearse for a moment the sequence of events, we experienced the worst cyberattack in American history and persevered for three and a half weeks under enormous stress and enormous difficulty. And all with the effort of trying to keep our business up and running and get this movie out into the public.

When it came to the crucial moment when a threat came out from what was called the GOP at the time, threatening audiences who would go to the movie theaters, the movie theaters came to us one-by-one over the course of a very short period of time – we were completely surprised by it – and announced that they would not carry the movie. At that point in time, we had no alternative but to not proceed with the theatrical release on December 25.

So you don’t…

And that’s all we did

So you have not caved in your view?

We have not caved. We have not given in. We have persevered. And we have not backed down. We have always had every desire to have the American public see this movie.

Lol. Even your insults are hilarious.

Remember when you were posting a few months ago that it was nice to be able to tuck your kids into bed? I do.

They must be very childlike if, at 23 and 26, they still like being tucked into bed at 9 pm.

Congratulations on taking two special needs adults in. That is admirable.

Three men die in a car accident Christmas Eve. They all find themselves at the pearly gates waiting to enter Heaven. On entering they must present something relating or as sociated with Christmas.

The first man searches his pocket, and finds some Mistletoe, so he is allowed in.

The second man presents a cra cker, so he is also allowed in.

The third man pulls out a pair of stockings.

Confused at this last gesture, St. Peter asks, "How do these represent Christmas?"

    Answer... "They're Carol's."

In a small southern town there was a "Nativity Scene" that showed great skill and talent had gone into creating it. One small feature bothered me.

Snowman The three wise men were wearing firemen's helmets.

Totally unable to come up with a reason or explanation, I left. At a "Quik Stop" on the edge of town, I asked the lady behind the counter about the helmets. She exploded into a rage, yelling at me, "You stupid Yankees never do read the Bible!" I assured her that I did, but simply couldn't recall anything about firemen in the Bible.

She jerked her Bible from behind the counter and ruffled through some pages, and finally jabbed her finger at a pas sage. Sticking it in my face she said "See, it says right here, 'The three wise man came from afar.'"

      WHAT THE "FREEDOM FIGHTERS"

Why aren’t you chastising your name-stealing cohorts for the filthy abuse they are heaping on those whose names have been stolen/insulted when they post in the first place?

After all, they all worship you. One word from you and they will stop.

      Right?

Your goal is to “clean up these forums”, correct? Think you can start with your “followers”?

I am not a messiah but this I will say. The world will never see peace again till the Palestinian and Indian Occupied Kashmir issues are resolved.

Either the world will be destroyed or the battlefield will now shift across the pond westwards. That seems to be the movie that is now playing.

America has failed to lead the world. UN was always a farce.

Let me also say that the american bureacracy, the likes of CIA/Armed Forces are incompetent. Most of their policies have been failures.

The mantra that “We will not be intimated” is not the solution. Looking problem into the eye and solving it is way into the future.

Remember the movie Seven Days in May? We may yet see that scenario play out after all if our politicians can’t figure it out. Hooyah!
