Military intervention not solution to terrorist threat

Watch "Fareed Zakaria GPS," Sundays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on CNN

The Paris terror attacks were barbaric but also startling, leading many to ask what could be done to prevent this kind of terrorism in the future.

Well, one man has a clear answer. "That attack you saw in Paris? You'll see an attack in the United States," Senator John McCain told the New York Times. Elaborating on how to stop this from happening, he explained to the Times and to CNN that it would require a more aggressive American military strategy across the greater Middle East, with a no-fly zone and ground troops in Syria and more troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This theory was sometimes described during the Iraq war as, "We fight them there so we don't have to fight them here."

It was wrong then and it's wrong now.

Where do you think women got the idea to make artificial battery operated snakes that vibrate then, Donna.

Again I say where do YOU think women got that idea from, Donna. If not their own mothers all the way back to Eve?

      • banasy©

Again, you deflect the question. Why?

Hint: it has nothing to do with snakes in the Bible.

Did you think that an ancient woman just one day grabbed a stick and shoved it up her coochie hole for no reason? That she didn't learn how to do that from her own mother and grand mothers all the way back to Eve?

      • banasy©

So, there is no Chapter and verse supporting your stance.

        Want to know why?

Because Eve didn't do the snake.

        February 1, 2015 at 5:16 pm |
      • Philip

So you admit not knowing where women got the idea to shove stuff up their coochie holes?

        February 1, 2015 at 5:26 pm |
      • banasy©

I admitted nothing of the sort; if I had to speculate, (and I've never thought of it because pondering other's sex lives is your forte, not mine) I would say it is not the reptile, but the penis that is the culprit.

So, do you think God meant for the penis to emulate a snake, or the other way around?

        February 1, 2015 at 5:36 pm |
      • Philip

I believe the bible's account of Eve having relations with a snake. And that Eve taught her daughters how to shove stuff up their coochie holes. And her daughters taught their daughters that violation of God's word, and so on and so forth down to this very day, where with the invention of electricity women started teaching their daughters how to use battery operated snakes.

Genesis3: 1Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” 2The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” 4The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! 5“For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

Now, please, show me very specifically where any act other than talking occurred, Philip.

        You know zero.

        Shut up.

Your family was awful. Mine was not. Your family were perverts.

        Mine were not.

Eve was "thoroughly" deceived in every way possible, says The Word. Adam had no relations with any snake and so was not deceived. He was tricked by his own wife and for that was executed by God.

      The "relations" were verbal, Philip.

Do you know what "verbal" means?

Genesis 3:1 tells you all about the talk between Eve and the serpent...

How you get something sexual out of that speaks volumes about where your mind is really at.

No. Eve was "thoroughly deceived" by Satan. You cannot fully deceive a woman by just talking to her. Duh.

        The encounter was verbal.

I have no idea why you would think that there is some weird ceremony that mothers and daughters go through to initiate the daughters into "battery operated snakes", Philip.

Not only is it untrue, it is absurd.

I can only think that you have no idea whatsoever about healthy mother-daughter relationships, and choose instead to think the worst of all mothers everywhere, because they are female and chose not to abort their baby.

  7. Philip

Eve soon induced Adam to join her in sin. How are we to explain his limp acquiescence? (Genesis 3:6, 17) Adam faced a conflict of loyalties. Would he obey his Creator, who had given him everything, including his beloved mate, Eve? Would Adam seek God’s direction on what he was to do now? Or would the man throw in his lot with his wife? Adam knew very well that what she hoped to gain by eating the forbidden fruit was illusory. The apostle Paul was inspired to write: “Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression.” (1 Timothy 2:14) So Adam deliberately chose to defy Jehovah. His fear of being separated from his wife was evidently greater than his faith in God’s ability to remedy the situation.
