On GPS Sunday: What Afghanistan's elections mean, and is Wall Street rigged?

Watch "Fareed Zakaria GPS," Sundays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on CNN

On GPS this Sunday: Afghanistan holds an election Saturday. But is the violence that has already been witnessed a sign of what's to come?  Will the poll really change anything? And what will happen to the Taliban and terrorism as American troops leave?

Fareed convenes a panel including Richard Haas, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, Peter Beinart, a contributor to Atlantic Media, New York Times reporter Carlotta Gall and the Wall Street Journal's Bret Stephens. They will also be discussing developments in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Later, Fareed sits down with  Michael Lewis, author of Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt.  He says Wall Street is rigged and that some traders have an unfair advantage. Is he right?

Also, in the wake of the Fort Hood shooting this week, GPS will introduce you to an Army general with a potential solution to the problem of mentally unstable soldiers with guns. And we will tell you why he can't get his way in Washington.

Finally, a Shakespearean tragedy related to Syria...but it's not what you're thinking.  This one will actually make you smile.

This and CNN’s website says Fareed is also on at 1pm Sunday. It is not. What is going on?

I tend to agree with you about Wall Street, chrissy. On another topic, I expect to see a lot of bragging over the phony election being carried out in Afghanistan today and our rip roaring military "successes" there by many right-wing politicians in Washington.

Although Obama and a many others have acknowledged their on going concerns with derivatives and hedge funds, they outright refuse to implement the best remedy which would be to ban the "short sale" across the board. With global derivatives and credit swaps having hit the quadrillion mark, we can't even humanly fathom such numbers. The "short sale" does not fit in at all with the primary reasons for having a stock exchange. Selling short is not an investment, it does not raise capital, it is not a legitimate trade because you're selling something you don't even own. But like creating money out of thin air it can be a gold mine for some with some pretty darn nifty tax benefits. Yes, Wall Street is rigged, but no different than Washington. It's all right before your eyes and yes it sucks large if your on the outside because there's pretty much jack squat you can do about it.

  3. The GOP Solution

The GOP Solution: Turn all the Old, Sick, Poor, Non-white, Non-christian, Female, and Gay people into slaves. Then whip them until they are Young, Healthy, Rich, White, Christian, Male, and Straight. Or until they are dead. Then turn them into Soylent Green to feed the military during the next "unfunded/off-the-books" war. And don't forget the GOP all time favorites........TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH!!!..........and........GET RID OF SS AND MEDICARE!!!

As I'm watching your show in the morning I have to make a comment about Ukraine. Mrs. Carlotta Gall made a comment that Putin won't stop and I have to agree. He won't stop and we have to remember that most Russians would agree with his policy of taking back what were once Russian lands. What I would advise if any one would hear my opinion would be be to focus on Europe and Ukraine. Russia will do more harm to itself through these policies than anything we can do. This policy will backfire on Russia and make enemies out of its neighbors who will go to the US. Lets not forget China in all of this. Russia occupies a lot of territory which was once Chinese including what is now Vladivostok.
