How women could boost GDP

According to the International Monetary Fund, increasing women's employment rates around the globe could result in huge gains. If women worked at the same level as men in Egypt, the country's GDP could grow by 34 percent. The United Arab Emirates would see an estimated 12 percent boost. Germany and France 4 percent...and even the United States could see 5 percent more growth.

I know many women with fine careers. My primary-care physician is a woman, as is my neurologist. When I was in high school, my favorite pianist was Dame Myra Hess.
However, not every woman dreams of becoming a CEO. Some women still aspire to a traditional role at home. USA citizens are not (yet) forced by their government into work roles.
Some brilliant and highly educated women leave their careers for personal reasons. I know a woman, a successful NYC lawyer, who left her practice to give full attention to her special-needs child. Her husband is a doctor.
A woman in my country has choice in many areas. I like that.

My new line of Sarah Palin look-alike pinatas has completely sold out. It seems like everyone wants to hit those things with a stick. Or maybe even a ball bat.

I love your sentiment @ Joey. Too bad it isnt quite so accurate anymore. Im sure you must realise by now with the good paying jobs leaving the country it has made it nearly impossible for families to survive on ONE income. Therefore 99% of families have to have both parents working like it or not. And yes most mothers would like nothing more than to be at home watching their kids grow up!

We all love to have choices and I agree. What is happening to many countries in Europe facing population decline? Think about short-term gain contra long-term gain. Think about investing in people or investing in robots. Think about what we, as individuals, would like to get for ourselves and what our governments would like to get from each and every one of us. Then, what should be the proper balance that can benefit society in the short and long terms.

@ chrissy. I am not unaware that my country has lost many lucrative jobs.
However, I don't think that the number of mothers who must work is 99%.
Was that percentage derived by subtracting 1 from 100? Not every family must live as if its income were in the top 1% of taxpayers.

  4. The GOP Prayer

The GOP Prayer/Mantra/Solution: Dear God...With your loving kindness, help us to turn all the Old, Sick, Poor, Non-white, Non-christian, Female, and Gay people into slaves. Then, with your guidance and compassion, we will whip them until they are Young, Healthy, Rich, White, Christian, Male, and Straight. Or until they are dead. God...Grant us the knowledge to then turn them into Soylent Green to feed the military during the next "unfunded/off-the-books" war. God...Give us the strength during our speeches to repeatedly yell........TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH!!!..........and........GET RID OF SS AND MEDICARE!!!
In your name we prey (purposely misspelled, or is it?)........Amen
