Modi: Extremists 'a crisis against humanity'

Ayman al-Zawahiri the head of al Qaeda has issued a video and an appeal trying to create an al Qaeda in India. In South Asia, he says, but the message was really directed towards India. And he says he wants to free Muslims from the oppression they face in Gujarat, in Kashmir. Do you think, do you worry that something like this could succeed?
My understanding is that they are doing injustice towards the Muslims of our country. If anyone thinks Indian Muslims will dance to their tune, they are delusional. Indian Muslims will live for India. They will die for India. They will not want anything bad for India.
Why do you think it is that there is this remarkable phenomenon that you have a 170 million Muslims, and there seem to be almost no or very few members of Al-Qaeda, even though al Qaeda is in Afghanistan, and of course the many in Pakistan. What is it that has made this community not as susceptible?
Firstly, I’m not the authority for doing a psychological and religious analysis on this…But the question is whether or not humanity should be defended in the world? Whether or not believers in humanity should unite? This is a crisis against humanity, not a crisis against one country or one race. So we have to frame this as a fight between humanity and inhumanity. Nothing else.

Isn't it Hypocritical that Mr.Modi speaks well about Muslims in India and at the same time his own party leaders spew hate speeches against the same community?
Indeed Balraj, Modi is a nationalist and he's got a checkered past with Muslims. For example, he was the chief Minister of the region where the Gujarat riots took place. He has been accused of initiating and condoning the violence against Muslims. Yet here he is trying to make himself look just... If he is sincere, he must do more for rights of Muslims in India and must speak out against those in his party who spew hatred.
Do you know the history of religious violence in India? Let me give you some insight – there used to be a riot every few years in the Indian state of Gujarat (of which Modi was the Chief Minister and he was barely 2 months into his job). After those riots in 2002 there have been no such incidents and the state has progressed at a speed much greater than national average. Not to mention, Muslims have benefited tremendously too.
This country, like any other with multiple religions in it, has a history of religious violence and the governance of Modi, when observed over 12 years presents a very different picture from that of a bloodthirsty killer you and many other Muslims would like to presume.

Modi, as a leader has to be inclusive and treat ALL Indians equally. Whether his party members follow this principle is a different matter. Many Indians are still traditionalists and stick to their caste system.

The Hindustanis have no rationale to praise or promote Bharat's secularism. This is because secularism is European medicine against Christianity. In Hindustan, the Vedic dharma and culture are inherently tolerant of all the tolerant faiths. Therefore, we do not need "secularism" in Bharat. We need to make Bharat a Vedic State where all the intolerant and exclusive religions (mostly foreign) will be illegal. This is possible to do by majority grass root and other civil actions. Additionally, all the Hindus need to stop any mal-practice of dharma as is provided in Bhagavad Gita.

yes, modi was a part of RSS, which is a known fact. As to how extremist RSS is? I would say pretty extremist in very inconsequential sort of way (i don't know how else to put it, may be we Indians have a higher threshold for extremism). It does not have much popular support among hindus (who they think they represent) when it comes to random acts of violence. They have a lot of sympathizers though when it comes to speeches suggesting Hindus have been made victims and are being made victims by political masters/muslim invaders.
I am not sure how violent KKK was and what popular support it had. When it comes to RSS though, their political supporter seem to lose some election or the other when they get all extremist. However, they seem pretty thick – don't get the message I think, given that some member/ offshoot organizations of it will do something stupid again. Don't ask me why?

Yes ,Modi was a member of RSS which has been maligned by its political opponents by demonising it as extremist and fundamentalist,whereas it is a nationalist organisation with Hindu interests as much as any Christian democratic parties in Europe support Christian interests or Queen of England is patron of Church of England and supports Christian interests,Bible or Christ/God is quoted in USA by American politician and extolling Christianity is a common practice in American but nobody calls the American politicians as extremist.
Hindu ethos emphasises harmlessness as a virtue and there can be no extremists under its umbrella and RSS is a bogey created by proponents of faiths who have achieved new lows in indulgence of barbaric be headings and genocide of gigantic scale.

More than a thousand people (mostly Muslims) were killed during the Gujarat riots. Local police officials were complicit in the carnage. Modi has rarely visited the camps where Muslims were displaced... Neither has he apologized. Instead, he has described the reprisals as a "reaction" to an "action". He has also said he felt as sad about them as would a passenger in a car that accidentally ran over a puppy. So, one naturally has to question his sincerity.

Watched the Modi interview with interest but was not very impressed with his answers especially about plans for future growth and violence against women. His points lacked substance and seemed general/non-specific and even somewhat evasive. Will watch and see how he does.
