Israeli minister: Iran doesn't need one centrifuge

Fareed speaks with Naftali Bennett, the economic minister in Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet, about Iran's nuclear program. Watch the full interview on GPS this Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on CNN.

Iran - you have said that you thought a bad deal would lead to war, but a good deal could lead to peace. So the question is, do you regard the deal that is under discussion as a good deal or a bad deal?

From what we can tell, the area where they seem to be at right now is that Iran would go from about 19,000 centrifuges to somewhere in the range of between 5,000 and 7,000 or 8,000 centrifuges. Is that a sufficient reduction which would lengthen the lead time before Iran could potentially do something which can make them produce weapons grade uranium?

That's a very bad deal. Iran doesn't need one centrifuge. Canada has nuclear energy. Spain has nuclear energy. Switzerland has nuclear energy and they don't enrich uranium. You don't need to enrich uranium in order to use nuclear energy. You enrich uranium in order to produce a bomb. That's why the U.N. Security Council came out with six consecutive resolutions that they should have not one centrifuge.

And suddenly we're caving in to their whims, especially when Iran is on the floor. They're under a significant economic pressure. It's working. So when something works, you don't let it up. Quite the contrary. That's the point in negotiation where you insist, and, in fact, reinforce the sanctions. And we just want one simple thing – no enrichment within Iran. You can have all the nuclear energy you want for any peaceful uses, but no enrichment so you can't acquire a nuclear weapon.

But it...

It's so simple...

You know that this is essentially seems as though it's a non-negotiable issue for Iran. So from your point of view, essentially, any deal that comes out is going to be one you will oppose?

No. Any deal that allows Iran to enrich uranium, which allows them to ultimately break out within a few months with a nuclear weapon, is a disaster for the world.

Can you imagine what will happen to the global economy if Iran comes out with a nuclear weapon? The whole area will enter a nuclear race – Saudi Arabia, Turkey. We're going to have a nuclear nightmare in the very most dangerous area in the world. You know what it will do to your pension funds and to everyone's money? It's crazy. It will risk the West.

Why are we letting this? Why with open eyes walking into this trap?

We should be very clear, Iran no enrichment. We're not going to let you acquire a nuclear weapon. It's black and white. You don't have to be so sophisticated. The U.N. already six times said that they cannot have one, you know, centrifuge. I don't know why suddenly we're caving in. This is a bad deal and we have to prevent it at all costs.

Fareed, when Bennett said, "we gave them Gaza", you stared into space like it was true. Had it been my show, I would have told him it was not Israel's to give, and it was not an act of kindness.. 8, 000 land bandits being protected by 22,000 I DF soldiers, children going to school in windowless armored vehicles, making breakfast with machine guns around their torsos, getting pick off one at a time, etc., and this why Sharon decided to cut his losses. It had nothing to do with generosity. Yet this lie is allowed to continue thanks to guys like you.. .

I can hardly wait for non-Jews to become the majority in democratic Israel. Will be great having a Muslim PM of Israel.

I even occasionally agree with you, rupert.

Not this time, however. So, nope.

That will never happen philip. That's like saying "I can hardly wait for whites to be the majority in the ghetto."
    Wake up philip!
And brutus get rid of that stu.pid logo.
The dolphins will never even be in a super bowl. Not in our life time. U knukle head

What do you mean it could never happen. It's already happening. Palestinians are much more prolific breeders than Jews are. The majority would already be non-Jews had IDF forces or the MOSSAD
      never killed anyone.
Why did you think IDF targets civilians, voters, and potential voters? For the bad publicity?

And the Dolphins already won a Superbowl you knucklehead. They went 17-0 with QB Bob Griese, RBs Csonka and Kick, and crack head Mercury Morris. Jan Stenerud FG kicker. Freaking Paul Warfield WR? Shall we review their defense? Lol. Think it was back in '72. I was like 12 or something stupid. Smarter than you though. Duh.

They had this "little" Italian middle linebacker named Nick Buoniconti. He was like a big pair of vice grips with short legs...oh he hurt some people. He only played for like 8 years. Hmm. Wonder what happened to him besides being inducted unto the NFL Hall of Fame.

*Kicker Garo Yepremian, rather. Stenerud kicked for the Chiefs or some other stupid team the Broncos manhandle regularly.

The U.N. already said, like, over 100 times that Israel is illegal. All vetoed by the US. It's stupid that only nations with huge humongous military forces have veto power over the U.N. general assembly. Contrived, really.

Look at the elite pretending that old timey nuclear bombs are something to be worried about. Any tiny little country could form an agency and sneak into any country, including the USA, and kill 10's of millions by simply poisoning water.
AIDS kills 2 million per year. How many are killed by nuclear bombs each year?
What you see on TV is all scripted, folks. Anchormen and elite are all acting a part. Putting on a show for you.

While the discussion here is (at least supposed to be) about Irans need (or not) of a centrifuge, International Business Times (Australia edition) is reporting that Iran is readying it ballistic missiles against the US.

Iran's ballistic missiles, radars and satellites against its enemies are all geared up, according to the deputy commander of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard Corps or IRCG Hossein Salami. The warning comes after the United States announced extended deadline for the Iran nuclear negotiation to July 2015.

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei had called for Iran's military to have its military ar senals on the standby, Salami said. He highlighted that Iran's ground-to-ground missiles can hit enemy targets even if they are thousands of kilometres away. These warnings made Israel vulnerable for it only sits 1,600 kilometres from Tehran.

Seems like Israels unilateral response will be "announced" soon.

Stone age nuclear bombs are not a threat. Chemical and biological warfare technology far surpasses nuclear technology when it comes to killing millions of humans.
The makers of chemical and biological war machines are who sponsor your train of thought, bobscat.

Naftali is in fact a combination of two words: Naft meaning oil in Russian, and Ali being a popular name in Arab countries. The origin of the name is perhaps because Naftali's dad or grand dad used to deliver oil to people's homes when they lived in the ghettos trying to make ends meet. His other brothers are Halabiamir as he used to collect empty cans, and Benzinmoussa who worked in the gas station wiping wind shields. Experts believe that poverty, discrimination, deportation and humiliation all played part in creating a psychopath that Naftali is today.

Hmmm. Maybe that's what happened to me. I uses to collect beer cans and use money to play a wooden pinball machine at The Pink Bull Bar&Lounge and Billiards&Poker parlor. And did grow up angry.

Iran has already demonstrated their superior technology by taking over the controls of US "high tech" drones flying illegally in Iranian airspace. Iranians could easily form a secret agency and have agents sneak into America and very easily poison your communities unguarded water supplies. Dump tons of anthrax in your lakes and rivers. And a lot cheaper than building nukes.

Iran continues to stonewall international inspectors. It won't answer questions about its past nuclear research, nor accept tight restrictions on the uranium-enriching centrifuges that are key to making a bomb. Now Iran is reported to have been seen buying for their heavy-water reactor. These aren't signs of a good-faith effort to reach a future agreement. Allowing Iran to maintain the infrastructure for nuclear weapons and allow it to receive a massive cash infusion with the
lifting of economic sanctions without any concurrent change in governance or human rights improvements would prove to as disastrous as Neville Chamberlain's declaration after Munich of "peace in our time."

FZ , during your Bennett interview, the sharp questioning and reasoned comments to which I had become accustomed from you took flight. As an example ,when Bennett declared that the BDS movement was antisemitic,a response from you was surely warranted but you said nothing. On the other hand, you seemed to have found your vigor with Begg, the torture victim. How could you ,have expected him to assign priority to criticism of Islamic extremists who had not tortured him?

nuclear iran will probably be pretty bad for that region of the world i think. with isis growing stronger, turkey going stronger with it's muslim roots. with the fanatics which exist on this planet which are of muslim believes, it's clear why the UN and the rest of the world would like that to stop. i mean just look what the taliban did in pakistan. you have all these fundamentalist islamic movement killing people. i mean children killed while working on their computer during a lesson.
