Fareed speaks with Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton about the controversy over the movie 'The Interview.' Watch the full interview on GPS this Sunday at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. on CNN.
Why not release it online in some form or the other – video on demand?
There are a number of options open to us and we have considered those and are considering them. As it stands right now, while there have been a number of suggestions that we go out there and deliver this movie digitally or through VOD, there hasn’t been one major VOD – video on demand distributor – one major e-commerce site that has stepped forward and said they are willing to distribute this movie for us.
Again, we don’t have that direct interface with the American public, so we need to go through an intermediary to do that.
Suuuurre.
Who gives a s hit. Release it or not. Move on. What is the big deal. Go bomb or drone NK. Talk is cheap. .
BOSTON STRONG !!!!
PESHAWAR STRONG !!!
PAKISTAN STRONG !!!
I would like to take a moment in silence to respect the memory of the 145 children and teachers who were massacred in Peshawar, Pakistan. May they rest in peace and god give them eternal abode in the kingdom of heaven. Amen/Ameen/Ah-Mayn.
Our hearts are with the Pakistanis and families and friends of these folks.
...not to mention the 3 million Jewish men, women and children slain by Romans in the year 70AD, and the six million Hitler and his Bayer AG slaughtered.
We have learnt that the bad guys behind this attack have been identified. This attack was planned in Afghanistan and facilitated by India. The leader of these bad guys is Mulla Fazlulla who is hiding in Afghanistan which is under American Occupation and Control. It is my contention that Pakistan should give three days ultimatum to Americans, Afghanis and India to hand over this terrorist/s failing which Pakistan should send in the SSGs to pluck them away. All force deemed necessary should be used.
Americans attacked Afghanistan, you idiot.
And just a month ago you were bashing Pakistan. My how things change.
"I Could Have Danced All Night"
Could have danced all night
Could have danced all night
And still have begged for more
I could have spread my wings
And done a thousand things
I've never done before
Or you could have been born to a dysfunctional suburbanite Chicago family and dropping your kids off at grandma's house as you sport your new ass tattoo all over town.
No. It should not be released. Typical Americans would rather gab about what might be the case. Is what keeps news blogs going, actually.
Here's an alternate viewpoint on the Sony debacle: http://cary67.com/blog.php?entry=2
What the USA's economy needs most at this time is a fine film.
Just heard that Mayor Rahm Emmanuel's son has been mugged in Chicago. Probably somewhere very dangerous, like right outside the Pump Room or at the Lyric Opera.
Where is Fritz Reiner when you need him?
@Philip were you not the child molester turned raypist from India that sought political asylum in Mexico?
THE RAIPE
Rosey Khambatta says:
December 21, 2014 at 7:12 am
Raipes are a celebration of hinduism in India. It is the very fabric of Indian hindu culture.
It has been going on for 5000 years.
This cancer is now spreading into neighboring countries. It is also being exported to western nations where hindus migrate to.
Singapore recently arrested and deported thousands of hindus for raipes and terror.
It is bad enough that these girls were gang raiped. On top of that these hindus hung them on a mango tree. Then they were burnt up post death. How can one even begin to justify this with a conscience? This is so egregious.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday took suo moto cognizance in gang-raipe and murder of two minors in Uttar Pradesh in India.

I have a few comments with reference to GPS in which Fareed spoke with Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton about the controversy over the movie 'The Interview.'
Michael Lyton: "Again, we don’t have that direct interface with the American public, so we need to go through an intermediary to do that." – I disagree with this statement. Mr. Layton did indicate during the show that he would be happy to provide the movie link (?) to the US president if he wants to watch it. I believe similarly Sony can post the movie on their website (www.sony.com ?) for people who wants to watch. May be "on-pay-per-view"? This does not need Sony to go thru any intermediator such as VOD.
I don't think Mr. Layton came clean making a statement – "Again, we don’t have that direct interface with the American public, so we need to go through an intermediary to do that."
Speaking of interviews :
An applicant was filling out a job application. When he came to the question, "Have you ever been arrested?" He answered, "No."
The next question, intended for people who had answered in the affirmative to the last one, was "Why?" The applicant answered it anyway: "Never got caught."
A business was looking for office help. They put a sign in the window, stating the following:
HELP WANTED
Must be able to type, have computer skills, and be
bilingual. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer
A dog trotted up to the window, saw the sign and went inside. He looked at the receptionist and wagged his tail, then walked over to the sign, looked at it and whined a bit.
Getting the idea, the receptionist got the office manager. The office manager looked at the dog and was surprised, to say the least. However, the dog looked determined, so he led him into the office. Inside, the dog jumped up on a chair and stared at the manager. The manager said "I can't hire you. The sign says you have to be able to type."
The dog jumped down, went to the typewriter and proceeded to type out a perfect letter. He took out the page and trotted over to the manager and gave it to him, then jumped back up on the chair. The manager was stunned, but then told the dog, "The sign also says you have to be good with a computer."
The dog jumped down again and went to the computer. The dog proceeded to enter and execute a perfect spreadsheet that worked flawlessly the first time.
By this time, the manager was totally dumb-founded! He looked at the dog and said, "I realize that you are a very intelligent dog and have some interesting abilities. However, I still can't give you the job."
The dog jumped down and went over to a copy of the sign and put his paw on the sentence about being an Equal Opportunity Employer.
The manager said "Yes, but the sign also says that you have to be bilingual." The dog looked at that manager calmly and said, "Meow."
Lmao @ bobcat...thank you from both Melissa and myself! We so needed that laugh!
Thank you chrissy and Melissa.
I was just checking the weather reports to see if hell had frozen over. I mean the Lions being in the playoffs "and" beating Da Bears twice in one season, is more than a sane person can be expected to handle.
